Trouble (Cage the Elephant)-

Trouble on my left, trouble on my right

I've been facing trouble almost all my life

My sweet love, won't you pull me through?

Everywhere I look, I catch a glimpse of you

September 1st 1971

"I don't like boats," Evan told me as the 4 of us clambered into one, rocking it side to side dangerously.

When I found the twins they were sitting with Rabastan, Lucius, and Narcissa. the 6 of us had split off because it was only 4 to a boat but Rabastan had insisted he didn't want to be stuck with Lucius and Narcissa. Apparently, there is already an informal engagement between the two of them.

I was hesitant when a large man led us to the lake, telling us we would get the best view of the castle this way. I think I would've preferred to inspect the carriages but the others had insisted.

Pandora rolled her eyes as she followed us, "You only don't like them because you fell off one."

"So?" Evan said with a roll of his eyes, "That's an entirely valid reason to hate boats."

"Is not!" Panda insisted, sitting next to me, "It's not the boat's fault you're so uncoordinated!"

I had to agree with Evan, I wasn't a fan of boats either. Glancing around to the other students who were all finding their seats I noticed Sirius and James following 2 other boys, grinning brightly.

"You okay Kate?" Pandora asked, bumping my shoulder lightly when she noticed my sudden mood change.

"She's looking at Sirius Panda leave her be."

"Well, she should stop looking at the git."

"He is a git," Rabastan told me.

"I agree," Evan insisted, ignoring the fact that I was glaring at him. When he noticed my withering stare he flashed me a bright sarcastic smile.

The 4 of us continued talking as the tall man stood up from his boat. It looked quite disproportionate. The groundskeeper, who someone had called Hagrid was a massive man, and the little boat beneath him looked although it would crack in the middle. "Everyone in?" He shouted, glancing around to look at the river bank which was deserted now, "right then - FORWARD!"

The fleet of boats immediately began moving forward, gliding across the lake as we all fell silent, admiring the twinkling lights of the castle above us, maybe I was glad I took the boats after all.

I was interrupted from my admiration by a sharp jab in my side as Evan grinned at me, "I'll give you a cauldron of chocolate frogs if you jump in." he told me, pure childish mischief on his face.

"A full cauldron?" I asked, a smile forming on my face, "promise?"

I don't exactly know why that was such an appealing deal. I had money, buckets full, I didn't need his chocolate frogs and yet I really wanted them.

"Pinky promise."

A second later I had taken my coat off and I was standing at the edge of the small wooden boat, looking at the murky water below me.

I could use a heating spell after, right? it would be minimal discomfort?

Brushing off my doubts I took one last look at Evan who was smiling teasingly at me, expecting me to sit back down any second. I didn't sit back down.
