Xie Lian's relentless search for Hua Cheng had spanned months, leaving his parents worried.
"Xie Lian, rest," his mother urged, halting his departure. "You've been searching for this boy nonstop."
His father chimed in, "Maybe this boy was a figment of your imagination. Focus on being a good ruler, Xie Lian. No more ups and downs."
Xie Lian's heart softened, recalling the pain of losing his parents in his past life. "Father, you saw me save the young boy. I must find him."
With resolve, Xie Lian departed for Yong, remembering the devastating drought that struck around this time. He entered the temple, bowing to pray, and was met with the sound of a girl's sorrowful weeping.
