A shambling corpse was in front of him, his skin red and withered to the point of where he was simply bones. There was a fire in his eyes, but they showed no warmth, determination, or confidence. They showed anger, insanity, and death. And on his chest where the heart was located was the accursed darksign. He knew what this meant, this corpse was hollow. A state where he can never be human again, where his very souls only wanted one thing.

Humanity.

This small sprite was the savior of the undead, for it allowed them to be human, at least until they died again. Undead hunt mercilessly for this sprite, even killing their own families for it. For if they die enough, with no humanity, they will become hollowed, forever looking for humanity. This was worse than death for you will never truly die.

And this was his fate.

"No," he said. "I don't want to be hollow!" He was screaming now. "I won't let this curse take me!" Then he blacked out.

He awoke in the wooden hut again, except this time he had no control of his body. A women was sleeping in the bed while a baby snoozed in the crib. He held a dagger in his hand, and with a growl, he jumped upon the women in the bed. She struggled for some time, but she was not strong enough. He punched her in the nose and broke it. And with his dagger poised, he stabbed her in the forehead.
Then in the eyes.
Then the nose.
Then the mouth.
He kept stabbing until her face was mush and blood covered the entire bed. He went on a searched her body, but she had no humanity. That's when he heard a cry from the crib. He turned quickly and growled once more. He walked briskly towards the crib and found a baby inside. He wasted no time and lifted up the child, grabbing his head and crushing his skull. His hands were covered in blood and brains. But there in the middle of the crib was the small Sprite. He quickly grabbed it and consumed it. He breathed deeply, glad he was human again. Until he looked around and saw what he had done.

"Maria?"
