Draco’s temper flared as he confronted Harry, his grip tightening around (Y/N)’s hand. The idyllic picnic had turned into a battlefield, and the last thing he wanted was for their moment to be ruined by the ever-persistent presence of Harry Potter.

“Harry, this isn’t the time or place,” (Y/N) said, her voice attempting to diffuse the tension. She looked back and forth between the two boys, clearly distressed.

“I’m just trying to protect you,” Harry shot back, his eyes locked on Draco. “You deserve to know if he’s just doing this for show.”

“Doing what for show?” Draco retorted, stepping forward defiantly. “You think I’d play with (Y/N)’s heart? She’s not a pawn in some game. I care about her.”

“Care about her?” Harry scoffed. “You care about your family name and the status that comes with this engagement. You don’t care about her, not really!”

Draco felt his blood boil at Harry’s words. “You don’t know anything about me or what I feel!” he snapped, anger flashing in his eyes. “You’re just jealous because you’ve lost her.”

“Lost her?” Harry echoed incredulously. “I never had her! She chose you, but I want her to know she has a choice in the matter. I won’t stand by while you manipulate her into a life she might not want!”

(Y/N) stood between them, her heart racing as the tension escalated. “Enough! Both of you!” she exclaimed, raising her voice to cut through the hostility. “I don’t want to choose sides. I care about both of you, but this is getting out of hand.”

Draco took a deep breath, trying to regain control over his emotions. He could feel the weight of (Y/N)’s gaze on him, and it made his heart ache. He needed to show her that he was better than this confrontation.

“Harry, what do you want from her?” Draco demanded, forcing his voice to remain steady. “What do you think will happen if she listens to you? You think she’ll run back to you just because you’ve declared your love?”

Harry opened his mouth to reply but hesitated. Instead, he turned to (Y/N), his expression softening. “(Y/N), you deserve to make your own decisions. I just want to make sure you’re not rushing into something you might regret.”

“I appreciate your concern, Harry,” (Y/N) said gently, trying to keep the peace. “But I’ve thought this through. I’ve chosen Draco, and I want to see where this leads. I know it’s a big step, but I want to give it a chance.”

Draco’s heart soared at her words, but he remained wary. “So you’re saying you want this?” he pressed, his eyes searching hers.

“Yes,” she replied, unwavering. “I want this. I want to be with you, Draco. I don’t want to doubt that decision.”

Harry sighed, frustration etching lines on his face. “But you’re still young, (Y/N). You have time to explore your options. You don’t have to rush into this.”

“And what? Wait around while you chase after her?” Draco shot back. “You’ve had your chance, Potter. You made your choice, and it wasn’t her. So let us be.”

Harry opened his mouth to retort, but (Y/N) stepped between them again. “Harry, I appreciate your friendship, but I’m not asking for your approval. I’m with Draco now, and I want to move forward with him.”

The silence that followed felt heavy, the weight of unspoken words hanging in the air. Draco could see the shift in Harry’s demeanor—he looked resigned, almost defeated. The fight seemed to leave him as he took a step back, running a hand through his unruly hair.

“Fine. If you’ve made your choice, then I won’t stand in your way,” Harry said, his voice softer but still laced with hurt. “But just know that I’ll always be here for you, regardless of what you decide.”

“Thank you, Harry,” (Y/N) said, her tone sincere. “I hope we can still be friends.”

As Harry nodded and turned to leave, Draco felt a pang of unease in his chest. He knew how much Harry meant to (Y/N), and although he trusted her, a small part of him still worried about the connection they shared.

“Draco,” (Y/N) said, turning back to him with concern in her eyes. “Are you okay?”

“Yeah, I’m fine,” he replied, though the words felt hollow. “It just… irritated me how he thinks he knows what’s best for you.”

(Y/N) stepped closer, placing a reassuring hand on his arm. “You know I can make my own choices, right? You don’t have to feel threatened by Harry.”

“I know, but it’s hard,” he admitted, his vulnerability slipping through the cracks of his bravado. “I care about you so much, and I don’t want to lose you.”

“You won’t lose me,” she assured him, her eyes shining with sincerity. “I chose you, Draco. And I’m not going to let anyone, not even Harry, come between us.”

Draco felt a rush of warmth flood through him at her words. They were all he needed to hear. He pulled her close, wrapping his arms around her waist and leaning down to capture her lips in a gentle, yet passionate kiss.

As they parted, (Y/N) looked up at him with a playful smile. “Now, where were we before we were so rudely interrupted?”

Draco chuckled, the tension from earlier dissipating as he pulled her back to their picnic. “Right here, enjoying our little escape from the world.”

They settled back on the blanket, the air now light and filled with laughter once more. As they shared stories and snacks, Draco felt his earlier worries fade away.

Yet, in the back of his mind, the whisper of insecurity lingered. He would need to show (Y/N) that he was worthy of her choice, especially with Harry lurking in the shadows.

As the sun began to set, painting the sky in shades of orange and pink, Draco glanced at (Y/N), who was watching the horizon with a content smile.

“You’re incredible,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper. “I’m so glad we’re doing this together.”

She turned to him, her expression warm. “Me too, Draco. I have a good feeling about our future.”

“Yeah?” he asked, his heart swelling at her words.

“Definitely,” she replied, her smile radiant. “No matter what challenges we face, we’ll face them together.”

Draco nodded, filled with newfound determination. He would protect what they had and make sure their bond grew stronger with each passing day. As they packed up their picnic and prepared to head back to Hogwarts, he felt a sense of hope bloom within him.

Together, they could weather any storm. And no matter how complicated things got, he would always fight for (Y/N)—his heart’s choice, his future.
