𝑽𝒂𝒏𝒊 stepped out of the cafeteria, her phone at the ready to call..

Just as she was about to dial, an incoming call interrupted her.

Vani's brow furrowed as she answered the unfamiliar number.

"Hello?" she said cautiously.

"Hey, beautiful," a deep, smooth voice replied.

Vani spun around, scanning the area.

That's when she saw him.

A boy, leaning against a nearby pillar, wearing a mask

Their eyes met.

He smiled.

Vani's wariness was palpable.

"Who is this?" she demanded.

The boy's smile grew.

"Someone who's been watching you," he said.

Vani's eyes narrowed.

"Great, another creep," she muttered.

But the boy just chuckled.

"Hey, I'm not creepy. I'm just interested," he said.

Vani scoffed.

"In what?"

"In you," he replied.

Vani's face flushed in anger.

"Please. You don't even know me."

The boy's voice dropped to a whisper.

"Oh, but I do."

Vani's irritation flared.

"Who are you?"

The boy laughed.

"Someone who knows what you need."

Vani gritted her teeth.

"What makes you think I need anything from you?"

"Because," he paused, "you're curious."

Vani's anger simmered.

"Maybe. But I'm not interested."

The boy chuckled.

"We'll see about that."

"Listen, whoever you are," Vani said.

"I don't have time for games."

The boy's tone turned serious.

"This isn't a game, beautiful."

"I'm inviting you to Shravan's birthday party tomorrow night, also there's a freshers party."

Vani raised an eyebrow.

"Why would I go to that?"

"Because it's the party of the year," he replied.

"And because I'll be there."

Vani snorted.

"You think I care about that?"

The boy's voice dripped with confidence.

"You should."

"I'm the only one who can make it worth your while."

Vani's face burned.

"Who do you think you are?"

The boy laughed.

"Meet me at the party, beautiful."
