Sophia had spent the entire day wallowing in self-pity about that fact that she may or not be dying soon.

She had shut herself off from everyone, Bonnie, Caroline, even Tyler.

Kol wanted more than anything for her to get up off her ass and try to save herself, but it's almost as though Sophia didn't care what happened to her.

He didn't want to watch her die in front of him. Again.

After sixteen missed calls from Caroline however, she agreed to go out the grill. She warmed to the idea of dying while having fun.

She also wanted to beat Tyler's ass at pool one more time.

She was actually enjoying herself for the first time in ages, now that she wasn't concerning herself with vampires.

She missed hanging out with her brother and Caroline. Sophia had been feeling guilty lately as she had been spending all her time with Bonnie.

Especially when the time spent with Bonnie was all for nothing. She wished she knew back then that Bonnie wasn't worth her time.

As always, her good times were cut short as she watched her father storm up to her and Tyler, with a look of annoyance on his face.

"What are you doing here? I told you to go home." He whispered to them, clearly agitated.

Tyler rolled his eyes at him. "I decided not to." He retorted.

"Tyler-" Sophia tried to speak, cringing at the way Tyler spoke to their dad knowing that wasn't going to go over well.

"If I tell you to do something, you do it." Richard raised his voice slightly, grabbing Tyler's arm harshly.

Tyler fought out of his dads grip, finally standing up to the way he treated them.

"Get off me." He sneered.

The commotion had gathered the attention of people nearby, now Caroline and Matt had intervened the family argument.

"Mayor, is everything okay?" Caroline asked sweetly. Caroline had always suspected that the Mayor didn't treat his kids right, especially Sophia.

When they were younger, Caroline would always make up an excuse to have Sophia stay at hers when she noticed new bruises.

She tried to tell her mom about it but she was either too scared of the Mayor or didn't believe Caroline to do anything about it.

"Please kids, I need you to go home. Now." Richard pleaded, looking around the group.

Sophia was confused by the sudden emotion her dad was showing, she could've swore their was genuine concern in his voice.

"Take your friends with you." He continued.

"Wait. Why? What's going on?" Matt Spoke up, just as confused as the rest of them.

"I can't explain. All of you need to get home now." Her father changed the subject. With his sense of urgency and the vagueness of his words, it finally clicked in Sophia's mind.

The council were going to use the device.

And they were all right in the middle of it.

"Yeah, okay." Tyler agreed, seeing the distress his dad had.

"Here. Take my car, it's out back." Richard insisted. That's how you know something is wrong, he would never let any of them drive his car if it wasn't an emergency.

"Caroline, Matt, go with them." He said, as the four of them nodded and made their way to the exit.

Sophia felt something eating away at her as they walked. Was it fear of dying? Or guilt that others were going to die? Stefan being one, yes he was a vampire but he was a good guy from what Sophia had seen.
