Chapter Eleven, I love you.
TIA HARPER
BIRTHDAY SEX - JEREMIH
Chris walked away from the door, granting me a moment of solitude in the bathroom to finalize my look. As I applied the last of my makeup, I could overhear muffled conversations between him, Matt, and Nick in the other room, their laughter punctuating the excitement in the air.
I felt a thrill dance down my spine at the thought of the party ahead, where friends and laughter awaited.
After tweaking the last strand of hair, I stepped out into the hallway. As soon as Chris turned to face me, his smile widened, illuminating the room with warmth.
It was a genuine smile, the kind that made my heart race even faster. Moments later, Matt and Nick joined in, their faces beaming with enthusiasm.
"You look amazing," they chimed in unison, compliments washing over me like a soothing wave.
"Yeah, you look fucking beautiful," Chris added, his voice rich with admiration.
He stepped closer, his gaze consuming me, and before I could even respond, he closed the space between us, leaning down to kiss me softly.
The world around us faded; there was only the intensity of that moment, the taste of his lips igniting a fire within me.
"Awe, thank you, guys!" I said, a blush creeping onto my cheeks. "You all look amazing too!" I glanced at Chris again, my heart swelling with adoration, before giving both Nick and Matt a high five and welcoming them into a tight embrace.
I savoured the warmth of their camaraderie; it was a comfort I deeply appreciated. Yet, amidst the laughter and affection, Chris's eyes remained glued to me, a smirk playing at the corners of his mouth, which only made my blush deepen.
As Nick and Matt pulled away from the embrace, Nick glanced at the stairs, his voice playful, yet sincere. "Well, meet you guys downstairs?"
I nodded, and Chris echoed the motion. As Nick and Matt headed down, it left Chris and me alone, the air hanging thick with unspoken words. The room felt surreal, with a weight that brought clarity to my feelings.
"Are you sure you wanna go to this party?" Chris asked, his tone shifting to one of concern as he cupped my face gently with his hands. I could feel the warmth radiating from his touch, grounding me.
"Yeah, it'll help get my mind off everything," I assured him, offering a smile that was both genuine and slightly forced. I wanted to believe it, to escape the doubts that shadowed my mind.
He studied me for a moment, his expression softening as if he could see right through to my uncertainty.
"Just a heads up, Adam is going, but I will not let him near you or touch you. I'll stay with you the entire night because I'm not gonna let him ruin this for you or any of us." His words were fierce yet tender, sincere in their protective warmth.
He leaned in, kissing me gently on the forehead, a gesture that sent a wave of comfort through me, reminding me that I wasn't alone in this.
We embraced, his arms wrapping around me securely, and I melted into him, feeling safe and cherished. The warmth of our connection radiated between us, a tangible bond that seemed to heighten with each heartbeat.
"I'll be right by your side," Chris whispered into my hair, his breath sending shivers of anticipation down my spine. "I promise."
I felt butterflies swarm in my stomach as the air thickened with an undeniable tension. His forehead found mine for a brief but intimate moment, grounding me.
