"Ava?" I whisper but she doesn't respond.
She mumbles words that I can't hear. She shifts her head around, trying to find a comfortable position on my shoulder. She determines the best spot to be the crevice of my neck. Her breath tingles my neck, causing my body to shiver a bit. She jolts from the sudden movement but goes right back. This time, her lips against my neck.
I scoff, "probably the only kiss I'll actually receive from you outside that stupid little game, huh?" I whisper.
My eyes have fully adjusted to the dark. I can see the singular area of white stripes in her hair. I wonder where that's from. I don't know what it is about you. But Im intrigued. Im interested. But I'm not sure in what way. I wanna know everything about you, Av. I wanna know what you do for fun. I wanna know how you grew up. I wanna know more about how you're like when you're drunk. Or even when you're sober.
"Freddie?" She mumbles in her sleep.
"Av?" I whisper back.
"I'm so tired." She quietly groans.
"Let's get you to bed then. How's that sound?"
She gives me an inaudible answer, cuddling closer to me. I slowly shift around her and pick her up, carrying her to her bed. I lay her down and place her in a comfortable position with the blanket over her. Carefully, I back away from her. She looks a bit distressed in her sleep but I don't wanna wake her up. I walk to the door and crack it open, trying to slide out to prevent light from shining inside.
"Freddie?" She says, tiredly.
I stop in my tracks and slide back into the room. I quietly shut the door. "Yes?" I call out.
"Stay please." She sits up and looks at me.
"Uh-... I don't know Ava. Doesn't seem like a good idea. With..."
"With Angelina and all?" She looks off to the side of her bed, staring at Angelina's bed. "You're probably right." She yawns and lays back down. "Good night, Freddie." She says.
"I suppose only for a bit." I walk over to her
"Thanks." She whispers.
"Of course." I smile. She shifts over, making room for me on her bed. I climb into the sheets and lay down next to her, making sure to keep my hands to myself. The both of us look at each other, our faces a couple inches apart. She gives me a light, genuine smile before closing her eyes again; drifting off. The moon and stars allow for some light to be reflected on her face. A tint of whiteish-blue.
I gently tuck a piece of hair behind her ear. She looks so calm. She's beautiful no matter what she does. I cup her face with one hand. I can't seem to look away.
I'm sorry, Ava. For what I'm gonna do.
I lean in and gently place a kiss against her lips. She slightly shifts around, throwing a leg over me. I quietly laugh, trying not to wake her up.You say we're friends.
Good friends. But I find myself staring at you the same way I used to stare at someone else.
