42 - BIRTHDAY GIRL

The happiest person on earth that morning was none other than Chidera Odega turning twenty six!!!

Dera woke up unusually happy, basically nothing could rain on her parade not the weather, her work load and definitely not the witch. She was so excited she couldn't stop smiling as she had her bath that morning, to when she did her makeup, even picking out her outfit, she did it with precision and extreme happiness.

The only weird thing was that she was yet to receive any calls or text from the most important people in her life.

Although she wasn't too bothered as she was one who rarely did anything on her birthday, aside hangout with her cousin or spend the day binge eating and watching her favorite movies.

As there was no calls or text from Chisom who she knew would be very busy, she went about her daily business. Assuming there wasn't a compulsory general team meeting today, God knows she wouldn't step out of her door.

Arriving at the office, it was very quiet which wasn't a surprise as everyone was so professional!

Loitering, loud noises or any form of verbal communication were prohibited unless it was necessary.

Her heels went click click on the marble tiles as she made her way into her office. Dera dropped her handbag and gathered everything she would need for the morning meeting. Sure that she was duly prepared, she made way over to the boardroom.

Dera opens the door and immediately jumped.

"Happy birthday!!!"

Her colleagues and entire Starboy entertainment crew screamed. The boardroom was even decorated with balloons, flowers, everyone had a small paper crown on their head.

Kenny walks forward with a large red bouquet, "Happy birthday Dera, long live and prosperity!"

Dera happily grabs the bouquet then jumps on him.

Kenny laughs circling the birthday girl. He sets her down and taps her head, "Shortie."

Dera roll her eyes as Nina came forward with a pink cake, Happy birthday Dera written on it. Her eyes immediately pooled with tears, "oh my god"

"Awwn don't cry Dera, happy birthday!" Nina say wrapping the girl in her arms, Dera sniff hugging her back. One by one each colleague hugged her wishing and praying for her new age, by the time everyone had hugged her and they've shared the birthday cake she was a crying mess.

Now in her office where she kept crying as she looked through the pictures they took earlier.

"For real Dera why are you still crying?" Kenny roll his eyes.

"Leave her alone Kenny! It's her birthday she's allowed to cry" Nina roll her eyes at him. She wipe a tear from Dera face, "But seriously, you need to stop crying Dera."

Dera sniff, "You guys don't know how happy I am right now" she's never had anyone celebrate her birthday so she was beyond happy that her colleagues both the ones she knew and didn't came together to celebrate her.

"It was my idea by the way" Kenny inputs.

Nina tsked, "God Kenny can you be any less petty? You make it sound like we didn't all contribute." When Kenny brought up the idea of surprising Dera, she personally jumped on it involving the whole team. Aside anything, she knew how hard the girl worked and being that she didn't have any family around so it was right.

Someone knocks on the door and Remy pokes his head inside, "There's a special delivery for the birthday girl,"

Dera raise a brow confused, "What special...."
