SEASON NINE, EPISODE THREE
"Ryan Grey. Multiple leg fractures with a femur artery injury and rib fracture." Their lawyer stated, as she looked at her client's in the conference room, as Callie was in there for Sofia since she was Mark's next of kin, and for Arizona until she could come back, Owen was there for Cristina.
"Lexie Grey, deceased."
Ryan looked down at the words falling from the women's mouth, his eyes staying on his tangled hands, "Mark Sloan, deceased." The women repeated, as Ryan shakes his head, looking down, "This doesn't include extreme—"
Ryan dazed off when their lawyers continued to talk, until his sister's hand touched his, making him snap out of his daze, "How is—how is the investigation going?"
"Have they found what caused the crash?" Meredith questioned.
Her hand stayed on her brother's hand, "The investigation could take years, that's why we want to help you put this tragedy behind you." Ryan scoffed at the man's words, "Behind me? How am I supposed to put this behind me when my best friend and sister is dead?!" He stands up from the conference chair, "They died and you're telling us that it'll take years to figure out why it happened." He said, shaking his head.
"I think you mean, your clients would like to put it behind them." Their attorney stated, as Meredith looked at Ryan who sat back down, annoyed with the whole meeting, "So I am authorised at this time to propose a one time settlement. Bayview Aeronautics take your loss very seriously." The man spoke, sliding Derek a piece of paper.
The rep then said, "The settlement agreement must be unanimous, and it releases Bayview Aeronautics from any and all other claims, known or unknown, but—" The rep said, as Derek slid the paper over to Ryan and Meredith, who both glanced at the amount of money, before sliding it to Callie, "Most important, it'll allow you to put this painful time behind you and move on with your lives."
Ryan thought about the amount, if they took it then the investigation would just go away and be settled but something in him knew that settling meant that everything would disappear, like Lexie and Mark dying out in the woods.
"I-uh—I have to go." He said when his pager went off, Callie looking at the Grey male, "You doing surgeries now?" Ryan shook his head, "Only consults," He stated.
The Bayview attorney looked at Ryan, "Think about it, it's a—" Ryan nods his head, "Just like you said, a one time settlement, I'll think about it." He said, pushing himself off of the chair, and starting to walk towards the conference door.
