Finally I am back to my District. Back to where I belong. Not the damned arena or the Capital with an evil ruler but back home. I will be able to see my father and my brothers and even my mother (though I don't really want to see her.)
When we arrive at the station of District 12 we hop off the train with Haymitch trailing behind us. I still have Katniss' hand in mine and we raise our hands up as we see the crowd gathering at the station. They cheer for us and I look over at Katniss and I know who she is looking for.
I see Primrose on Gale Hawthorne's (Katniss' best friend) shoulders. She looks lovingly at Katniss and I know Katniss has the same look in her eyes when she eyes Prim. She releases my hand and dashes toward her little sister who she hasn't seen since the Reaping. Prim hops off Gale's shoulders and rushes towards her sister and Katniss envelopes her in a bone crushing hug.
I walk off the platform behind her but get dragged away by my older brother. We talk for a while then I see my father and mother. I found that my oldest brother had been killed in a mining accident and that there are only two of us left. I told my dad that he could come live in Victor's Village with me but my mother said that she refused to live in a house with a murderer. I walked away after that and went to find Katniss.
The mayor of our district, Mayor Undersee, came and found Katniss and I and led us to the village where we would live now. I dropped by my house and took the few belongings I had left. It wasn't much but I knew that I would have enough money to buy new furniture and some painting supplies. The mayor was saying that in about two days that the Capital will be sending food and the whole district will celebrate the arrival home of the Victors.
I didn't want that but I knew that it would mean lots of food for the kids that normally have nothing. So, I let the mayor leave and said nothing about it.
I found the house I was to live in and I had Haymitch and Katniss on either side of me. I knew I wouldn't be able I forget my time in the arena soon, if ever. I knew that Katniss would need help more than I would but I wouldn't go to her until she was ready.
It took little, to no time at all for me to organize my things an I found there was enough furniture so I just needed to buy food, dough to bake, and painting supplies.
I took a trip to the black market and found enough food and dough and came home with an abundance of campuses and new paints and brushes. I thought that if I could paint out my nightmares they would go onto the paper then stay out of my head.
Sadly the first couple nights I would painty nightmares and I didn't get much sleep. The painting soothed my mind and finally on the fourth night after arriving home I slept with no nightmares. Hopefully things wouldn't get to hectic but sadly I got a note from Effie about the Victory Tour.
