Dr. Andrews helped me get to a sitting position on the examination table. I struggled to catch my breath.
"You're doing amazing, Sunny," she said. "You're measuring slightly above average, which is great. We're still on track for thirty weeks, and your boys are doing great!"
"I'm glad they are, because I'm really struggling," I said.
"I know, honey. I know. But you're killing it. You've got this. Just five more weeks and your little boys will be here."
I laughed. "It seems so far away at this point."
"It'll be here before you know it. I'll see you next week, okay? Have a good rest of your night!"
"Thanks, you too," I said.
I went over to the desk to check out, then went out front, where the car was waiting. I was too big to drive at this point, and everyone was busy tonight. Luna was going to be out with Korra watching scary movies, Aunt Linda was busy doing a Halloween event at the store, and Leo was still busy with his top-secret, Rancho Cucamonga stuff. Oh, and Rosie was out at a party with Max.
Thankfully, Enzo and Ella were free to drive me home. I couldn't wait to heat up the leftover lasagna we made last night and sit on the porch with Grammy, handing out candy to all the cute little kids in the neighborhood. Grammy normally hated visitors, but she didn't mind kids on Halloween.
I walked over to Enzo's black compact car. I always thought it looked so cool with the red leather seats inside, and the tinted windows. Ella held the door open for me and helped me get seated. Once I was settled, she got in the passenger seat.
"How did it go?" Enzo asked.
"Great! The boys are as healthy as can be," I said with a big smile, lovingly holding my baby bump. "Thanks so much for giving me a lift home, Enzo."
"Any time, my dear," he said as we pulled out of the parking lot.
We drove the usual route home, but I noticed that Enzo wasn't getting in the turning lane to get to the street that led to my neighborhood.
"Oh, you have to move into the turning lane," I said. He didn't answer. "Uh, Enzo? You need to move one lane over."
"Yes, I know," he said, literally not moving over and going straight through the traffic light, which passed the street completely.
"Umm...why didn't you move over?" I asked, confused. "My neighborhood is back that way."
"Because you are not going home," Ella said.
"W-what do you mean?" I asked.
"It's okay. We have a big surprise for you. You won't know until we get there," Enzo said.
"Oh yay! I love surprises! Who put you guys up to this?" I said, giggling.
"It was...a group effort," Enzo said.
We got on the highway, and then once we got off the exit, I realized we were headed straight for the airport. I was practically bouncing with excitement. Leo told me he wanted to go on a babymoon, and this was the last week that I was cleared to fly.
"Ohmygosh, I can't believe him!" I said. "I knew Leo was gonna do something like this! I'm so excited to go on my dream vacation to Disney World!
Enzo and Ella didn't answer. We pulled out of the lane that was for departures, and went over to the smaller building on the tarmac that housed the fancy private jets.
"Okay, stop. You guys, this is just silly," I said.
"What?" Enzo asked.
"I know that Leo has connections with the FBI, but come on, there's no way they're really loaning him a private jet just to take us to Disney World!"
Again, both of them didn't answer. We pulled off into a parking spot. There was a private jet with the door open, waiting for us. The sun was setting on the airport, turning the sky shades of pink and orange. It looked so beautiful and peaceful. I couldn't help but stare up at it. Then I heard a click.
When I turned, I saw the barrel of a gun staring at me.
"You're coming with us, okay?" Enzo said. I nodded. "Ella is going to help you out of the car."
Ella got out of the front seat, opened the door, and held her hand out to me. I scooted a little further into the car.
"What's going on, you guys?" I asked.
"We are going. Let's go," Ella said.
"To where? Where's Leo?" I asked.
"Sunny, get out of the car," Enzo said, still holding the gun.
I looked around, trying to see if there was something I could do, but I couldn't walk that well. I definitely couldn't run. The main building of the airport was so far away. But I tried anyway. The back door of the car was locked, of course.
"You cannot escape. There is no use," Ella said, reaching in and putting her hand around the collar of my maternity sweater. Her grip was tight. "Let's go. Now. No more games."
I swallowed the lump in my throat and tried to stay calm for the boys' sake, since they could feel all my stress. That was the last thing they needed right now.
Ella helped me out of the car and wrapped one of her arms around the side of me, her hand tucked inside the sleeve of her black jacket. A blade of a knife was pressing into my side as we walked towards the private jet.
Ella helped me up the stairs. Once I was inside the jet, her and Enzo tied me to one of the luxurious leather seats. I tried as hard as I could not to cry from all the fear. This definitely wasn't a joke. These two people who I trusted with my whole heart were kidnapping me.
