You always had a habit of assuming the worst in any situation, just like your mother. After the orange-furred simian stated that sentence so happily, you were immediately sent into a panic. Thousands of questions filled your head which didn't mix well with your already distressed state.
'A ram? Isn't that a male sheep? I'm not even a boy! How did this even happen?!' You paused your internal questions before turning your tiny cream-colored head to the mysterious monkey who busied himself by eating peach-flavored chips.
"Who are you? You're..a little different from the other monkeys in here." 'A little bit' was an understatement. Not only was this ape almost as tall as you, he could also speak and understand the human language.
A smug smile crept onto the monkey's face at your question as if he was waiting for that exact question, "I've got a lot of titles, but you may know me as the great Sun Wukong; the Monkey King himself!" He stated proudly while placing his hands on his hips.
His introduction only caused you to stare at him in disbelief. Despite the fact that your beady eyes failed at portraying your facial expression, Wukong seemed to know seemed to know what you were thinking.
"What's that look for?"
You shake your head, causing the fluffy wool on your head to flap side to side, "There's no way you're the Monkey King! The Monkey King is supposed to be terrifying with..with huge, scary fangs and stuff!" You pointed to your mouth while also flailing your arms around like a stereotypical monster from a cartoon would do.
The Monkey King only shrugs, "Yeah, that stuff's not in style anymore, bud."
"Since when do mystic monkeys follow trends?!"
A dismissive laugh escapes Wukong's lips as he gives you a couple pats on the head. He continues to snicker when seeing the wool on your head bounce around after every pat. Feeling annoyed at his touch, you tried to bite at his fingers in return. The Monkey King managed to pull away just to time before your teeth could lock onto his hand.
"Jeez, easy with the teeth. You really are a ram," he teased. You whined in response before flopping back onto the rather lumpy bed. As much as you wanted to curl up into a ball, your stiff limbs weren't allowing you to.
"I can't go back home looking like this! Now I have no chance with dating a guy not to mention my parents will freak out if I come to work like this!" The thought of showing up to your parent's bakery as a ram would be like a nightmare that came to reality.
'What if I tried to hand a customer their baked goods and dropped them? These hooves can't hold anything!' A tight feeling made its way into your chest as you continued to imagine the worst scenarios, 'Or worse, what if I attacked a customer out of anger?!'
