Phil's parents moved again. His mom and stepdad did. His dad lived in Chesapeake by himself. This home was GORGEOUS! It was a seventies for bedroom two story but so nice. His mom had a knack for making things nice and she was so excited about the new baby. His mom loved babies. She asked about his dad, as she was kind, it sort of hoping he was miserable. I guess he stepped out in her and that was why he was back in Chesapeake. She lived in the small town of Burgundy. She lived on a quiet street with the love of her life Vincent. Her house was tastefully decorated and they were "so sorry" about us losing our jobs or being demoted."She is so down. She worked days and she looked forward to them," he told his mother.
"I bet. I always loved the day shift. I don't blame her."
"She is taking things so hard."
"A new baby? Uncertainty? I would, too."He didn't know I chickened out on the interview downtown. It was horrible. I saw all those cuter women who weren't pregnant going up to the 27th floor for their interviews and there I was fat and pregnant. I began to cry and could not stop. So, I went home.
The food was glorious and I partook. His mom did say, "you know, you are gonna have to work harder to shed that baby weight. It's age, dearie. You aren't a spring chicken." No I wasn't. I wasn't anything that I once was. I was an overweight woman. I wasn't an attractive woman any more. We watched the snow whip around the house and we had a good day. We went to our parents' house. Sarah was there with her new man and a new promotion. I looked cross the yard. Gary was in the suburbs if Chicago with Emmy's family. We didn't talk a about the house. That was going to be leaving us. I was selling a lot of stuff and realized I was going to have to sell, sell, to make sure we get to keep the house. So, I was buying wholesale lots and selling them off. Clinique was a hit!The house was n't mentioned but my sister was doing well. She didn't have flings and she didn't get pregnant. She was a serious woman. She was the apple of my parents' eye.
I did not have to close that Friday, which was wonderful. Indidn't get to go to Black Friday though, as we had no money. The girls and I went to the window displays and got to be a family. This would be one of the last normal holidays we would have....
Elsie was right....
