bad news

I wake up in the infirmary and find my girlfriend Clarisse sitting at my side while The Seven, along with Will Solace all stand around and look at me with looks of contemplation, but mostly relief.

"You're awake." Percy points out as he lets out a sigh of ease.

Clarisse scowls at me, though I can see her concern through her usual frown. "About time you woke up." She speaks. "You gave us quite a scare."

"You know you can just say you're worried about me, Tough Girl." I reply back before sitting up straight. Keeping a hand on my forehead, I feel the white fabric of bandages wrapped around it until Will quickly lays me back down.

"You shouldn't be sitting up so quickly." Will says with his usual Texan accent. "You lost a lotta blood." 

"Asgardians are good at healing." I say.

Will frowns at my comment. "Ares kids say the same thing." Clarisse looks up at the Son of Apollo. "Excuse me?"

"Sorry. But what I'm saying is—"

"Hold up." I interrupt him. I raise a singer as I look around. "Where's—" I pause as I quickly remember what happened on the battlefield. I look down at my lap. "I couldn't lift it."

There was silence at my comment until Leo looked sideways before smirking and speaking up. "That's what she said."

Piper (thankfully) smacks the back of his head. "Not the time." Hazel on the other hand, looks at me with a concerned expression.

"You couldn't lift up Stormbreaker when you summoned it? That's—"

"Strange." Clarisse completes before turning to look at me. "...Eric, remember when you said that Stormbreaker was—"

"Getting heavier." I complete too in a low voice. It was true. Over the past couple days, my axe was gaining more and more weight. It was during the time I was relapsing (which is a complete different story). I thought it was nothing. I thought I was just getting fat from stealing Percy's blue food stash. 

But no.

I, Eric Odinson, Son of Thor, Warrior of Asgard has lost the worthiness of weilding one of the greatest weapons of all time.
