The eerie whispers of the cursed trees lingered in the minds of Kael and Selene long after their encounter with the two mysterious figures. Team 4: The Shadowblades had seen plenty of strange things in their missions, but there was something unsettling about those masked figures. Their precision, their power—everything about them suggested a deep connection to the Sanctuary. And yet, they seemed like something entirely different.

As they made their way out of the cursed forest, the oppressive atmosphere of the void energy lingered, suffocating the life out of the air itself. The dark, twisted trees seemed to reach for them, their ancient whispers more insistent than ever.

"They will return... they will always return..."

Those words echoed in Kael's mind as he led the team forward, his twin shadow-infused blades at the ready. Selene, ever vigilant, scanned the shadows around them, her fingers tracing the black strings of her void-infused power, ready to create illusions at a moment's notice.

Shade, their Nokorii, walked beside them, its sleek black form blending perfectly with the shadows of the forest. The panther-like creature growled softly, sensing something still amiss.

"I don't like this," Selene muttered, her eyes darting from tree to tree. "Those masked figures... they weren't just random void creatures."

"I know," Kael said, his voice low and controlled. "They were different. Skilled. Too skilled."

"Do you think they're Hunters? From the Sanctuary?" Selene asked.

Kael didn't answer right away. He didn't want to admit what he suspected—that those figures felt too familiar. They moved like Hunters, fought like them. And yet, something was off. There was no denying the strange void energy that clung to them like a second skin.

"We'll figure it out later," Kael finally said. "Right now, we need to get out of this forest before it decides to consume us."

Act 1: The Heart of the Forest

As they ventured deeper into the cursed forest, the whispers grew louder. The trees themselves seemed to pulse with dark energy, their twisted branches curling like skeletal fingers reaching for the sky. The ground beneath their feet was soft and spongy, as if the earth itself had been drained of life.

"It's like the forest is alive," Selene murmured, her voice barely audible over the whispers.

"It is," Kael replied grimly. "The void has corrupted it."

They continued forward, each step feeling heavier than the last. The air grew colder, and the light from the sun, though still high in the sky, barely reached them through the dense canopy of leaves.

Suddenly, Shade stopped in its tracks, its ears twitching. The Nokorii let out a low growl, its glowing eyes narrowing as it stared ahead.

"What is it?" Kael asked, gripping his blades tighter.

Without warning, the ground beneath them shifted, and the trees around them began to move. Roots burst from the earth, curling and twisting like snakes, trying to ensnare them.

"Selene!" Kael shouted, leaping into action as the roots lunged toward them.

"On it!" Selene responded, her hands already moving. "Void Illusion!"
