Aadya's POV

"Amma. Five minutes" I covered my head with the quilt and tossed.

"No more five minutes. Wake up" my mother pulled the quilt and I had to wake up.

"Take a shower and wear this" mom placed my outfit beside me on the bed.

I held it and my thoughts darted to somewhere else.

Is that even necessary? I don't know whether I am doing the right thing or not.

"Did you go or not?" my mom's voice from downstairs broke the chain of my thoughts.

"I'm going" I gave a shout and stepped into the washroom.

I draped the yellow saree and sat on the stool.

The ladies around me giggled and started applying nalugu (ubtan)

The ladies around me giggled and started applying nalugu (ubtan). I was immersed in thoughts. My face didn't had that joy.

After the nalugu, I was asked to do hair wash again. The yellow saree was donated to Dhobhi.

The saree drapist arrived and draped the saree and did the other necessities for pellikuturu.(bride ceremony)

We headed to the temple and after taking blessings I was made to seat on a large chair. All the relatives, friends and neighbours came forward to bless me.

The ritual finished and the groom's family members arrived with the Prathanam (it have betel leaves, areka nuts and rupee coins). Usually it is brought by the daughters of the family. A lady adorned me with a necklace as a gift of Prathanam. I distributed the prathanam among all the married women and took their blessings.

I was already mentally tired and these rituals made me physically tired too.

I stepped into my room after the rituals and settled on the bed. My sight unknowningly darted towards the mirror. I went to it and looked at myself.

All this is happening again. Is this even right?

My thoughts were broken by my mom. She brought me lunch and fed me. She left the room and closed the door. I settled on the bed to take a nap but couldn't. The same thoughts were wandering in my brain. I stared at the ceiling and don't know when I dozed to sleep.
