Author's POV

An hour later...

Aadya halted her car infront of the twelve floored building which held the name Medtech. She stepped out of the car not before parking it. She lifted her shades to her scalp and held her bag.

The security guard saluted her while she was about to enter the lobby.

The receptionist stood from her place wishing her good morning. Aadya nodded her head and reached the elevator.

She pressed the tenth floor button and stepped out of it as soon as the elevator reached the destination.

People who were gossiping paused speaking after seeing Aadya. They stood from their places wishing her 'Good morning Ma'am'

She nodded her head and reached a cabin which had the name 'Chairperson'

She entered the cabin and placed the shades on the table and settled on her chair. She looked at the photo frame on the table which held her parents photograph.

It took her two good years to reach this position. She had faced many ups and downs in these two years. People criticized her regarding her personal as well as professional life. She didn't give a damn to them and slapped their criticism with her success. Her company is one of the top most companies in the state. Her success even brought her awards.

"Mam" her chain of thoughts were interrupted by Poojitha, her personal assistant.

"Yeah" said Aadya looking at Poojitha.

"Mam. The client will be reaching us in an hour" said Poojitha.

"Good. I hope everything is ready" said Aadya.

"Yes mam" Poojitha smiled.

Seeing Aadya's blank expression, Poojitha's smile faded.

"Do you have anything else to speak?" asked Aadya opening her laptop.

"No mam" said Poojitha.

"You may leave now" said Aadya.

"Ok mam" said Poojitha and stepped out of her cabin.

Poojitha settled at her desk. Witnessing her dull expression, her colleague Hari asked "what happened?"

"This boss. She doesn't smile at all. As if smiling will have tax" sulked Poojitha.

"You are just new here. You will know much more about her" said Hari smiling.

"Don't know why I joined this company" sulked Poojitha.

"Then you may take your dismissal letter and leave" everyone stood from their places witnessing a familiar voice including Poojitha and Hari.

Poojitha's face fell seeing Aadya.

"If you have that much problem working here then you may leave. No one is forcing you" said Aadya standing infront of Poojitha folding her hands against her chest.

"Mam. I didn't mean it" Poojitha tried to explain.

"You didn't mean? Then what did you mean" asked Aadya.

Poojitha kept mum.

"Ramayya. Ask the typist to print a dismissal letter for Poojitha" Aadya gave a shout to peon.

Tears welled in Poojitha's eyes.

"Mam. I didn't mean it. I just said that you don't smile" said Poojitha.

"Is my smile running the company?" asked Aadya to which Poojitha shook her head in no.

"Is my smile giving you salaries?" asked Aadya to which Poojitha shook her head in no.
