My concern turned to alarm as I gently grasped Catherine's hand. "Olivia, Lana, why don't you girls get settled? Catherine will join you soon. I need to have a quick word with her."
Olivia nodded understandingly, and Lana smiled sympathetically. "We'll get the pajamas ready."
With Catherine's hand still in mine, I guided her upstairs, ensuring she was stable. Each step seemed to echo with her suppressed pain. A faint whimper escaped her lips, and my heart ached.
As we reached the top, I ushered her into my room, locking the door behind us. The soft click of the lock seemed to amplify the tension.
"Catherine, what's going on?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. "You're hurting, and I want to help."
Her eyes, pools of vulnerability, met mine. I yearned to envelop her in a comforting hug, but hesitated, unsure how she'd react .

As I caught sight of Victoria's concerned expression, she unexpectedly grasped my hand, her gentle touch sending a wave of comfort through me. " Olivia, Lana, why don't you girls get settled? catherine will join you soon. I need to have a quick word with her ," she said, her voice soft but reassuring. With a gentle tug, she guided me upstairs, her hand cradling mine.
My mind whirled with questions. Why was she so concerned about me? We barely knew each other, and yet, her warmth and kindness put me at ease. The fact that she was my best friend's mom only added to the surprise.
As we climbed the stairs, I struggled to contain my emotions. A faint whimper escaped my lips, and Victoria's grip on my hand tightened ever so slightly. I sensed her worry, her heart aching with empathy.
We reached the top, and Victoria pulled us into her room. My eyes landed on the elegant furniture - walls, bed frame, and marble background behind the bed, complemented by two modern-style side tables, fancy lights, and a huge TV screen displayed right in front of the bed. She locked the door behind us and led me to her bed. "What's going on, Catherine?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. "You're hurting, and I want to help."
I looked into her eyes and felt vulnerable. Why did she want to help? How did she know I was hurting? I felt an overwhelming urge to open up, to tell her everything going on in my life and stay in her embrace forever. Why did I feel this way?
Her eyes pleaded with me, "Please, share what's wrong." I tried to speak, but my mouth seemed frozen, as if the words were stuck in my throat. Victoria noticed my struggle and sensed my hesitation.
She didn't press me further, instead, she smiled warmly and said, "Give me a minute." With that, she gently rose from the bed and left the room, leaving me to gather my thoughts.
Victoria returned with my bag, locking the door behind her. "I told Lana and Olivia you're sleeping in the other guest room," she whispered, "and that you're fast asleep, not to be disturbed."
She rummaged through the closet and produced a pair of shorts. I raised an eyebrow. "But I can sleep in these, why?"
Victoria's silence was puzzling. I glanced at her hands holding the shorts, then into her eyes. The air was thick with unspoken intentions.
Breaking the silence, she said, "You're not going anywhere now. Sit on the bed and take off your shirt for me."
Victoria disappeared into the closet and emerged with a first-aid kit. "Take off your shirt for me, darling," she said, her voice soft and gentle.
My pulse quickened at the affectionate term. Is she really speaking to me like that? The thought sent butterflies fluttering in my chest . I hesitated my fingers trembling slightly as I slowly removed my cardigan.
