CATHERINE:
I packed a bag with my night clothes, including comfy shorts and a tank top, and a simple yet adorable dress for the next day. I also threw in a few essentials, just in case. Before heading out, I texted Olivia to let her know I was leaving home.
As I made my way downstairs, Robert came running towards me with a big basket of goodies. "Catherine, I've got a special treat for Olivia and your movie night!" he exclaimed, handing me the basket. Inside, I found an assortment of snacks, drinks, and freshly baked fudge brownies that smelled heavenly.
"Ace told me you're going for a sleepover, so I figured you'd probably stop somewhere to get a gift," Robert said with a smile. "But I decided to do it instead. These brownies are especially for Olivia's mom, as a thank you for letting you stay over."
I was touched by Robert's thoughtful gesture. "Oh. My. Gosh, Robert! You're the best! I love you, I love you so much!" I exclaimed, giving him a big hug. "I don't know what I'd do without you. Thank you so much, and I promise to tell Olivia's mom that you specifically baked these delicious brownies for her."
With my bag and basket in hand, I bid Robert farewell and headed out to the car, where Ace was waiting for me. "Hey, ready to go?" he asked, eyeing the basket of goodies.
"Yess!" I replied, placing my bag on the backseat. We chatted briefly as we drove to Olivia's house, which was only a 15-minute ride away.
As we arrived, Ace reminded me that the bodyguards would join him once we got there. I felt a mix of excitement and nerves as I stepped out of the car. I was looking forward to a fun movie night and sleepover with Olivia, but I couldn't shake off the memory of the earlier encounter with Victoria.
To calm my nerves, I had decided to dress down in a comfy oversized T-shirt and baggy jean shorts, going for a relaxed street-style look. I remembered Victoria's words and wanted to make a good impression.
Ace gave me a reassuring smile as I prepared to leave the car. "I'll be right here if you need anything, okay? Just call me in case of an emergency. Enjoy your night, kiddo!"
I thanked Ace with a hug and watched as he settled in for the night, ready to keep watch over me. With a deep breath, I walked towards the door, which Olivia opened just in time, flashing me a bright smile.
"Hey, girl! Come on in!" she exclaimed, welcoming me into her cozy home.
I walked in and Olivia dragged me straight to her room bubbling with excitement. "Is anyone home?" I asked, looking around curiously.
"Mum and dad are in their room," Olivia explained. "Dad's getting ready for his night shift, and once he leaves, Mum's taking us out for supper at Castaway!" Her eyes sparkled with anticipation.
I couldn't help but grin at her infectious enthusiasm. "Omg, is that a goodie basket?" Olivia squealed, her gaze fixed on the basket Robert had packed for our movie night.
I chuckled and nodded. "Yup, Robert packed some goodies and freshly baked fudge brownies for your mum." I added, "I should probably go give it to her."
Olivia nodded vigorously. "Yess, you should! While I prepare my room for movie night. Mum might be in the kitchen," she suggested.
I set off towards the kitchen, basket in hand, while Olivia started transforming her room into a cozy movie theater. As I walked, I couldn't help but feel grateful for this sleepover and the chance to spend quality time with my dear friend Olivia.
As I headed for the stairs, I heard moaning and whimpering sounds coming from Olivia's parents' room. I gasped and turned around, seeing their door slightly ajar with a sliver of light glowing through the small gap.
