Alice could feel their eyes on her, even if they didn't say anything. She could hear the whispers, felt them weigh on her and join the ever growing mass of expectations that rested on her back. Alice knew what those expectations were at the very least, she was the daughter of Lorna Wu, she was a blood witch, she should be powerful. She should have her life together, and she didn't. And yet here she was, kneeling in front of a dead woman she could've saved had she gone just a little faster.

"Be respectful. For all we know her mother died on the Road, too." Lilia whispered to Jen.

"My mom did die on the road." Alice replied.

"We don't know that for sure." Lilia smiled gently, "She could still be out here."

"She died on tour." Alice stood up, "Hotel fire."

"So, if you're not trying to find her out here," Jen raised an eyebrow, "Why did you come with us?"

"She said the Road would save me." Alice shrugged.

"From what?" Jen turned towards Lilia, but Alice was already walking away to help Teen dig Mrs. Hart's grave. She grabbed a branch from the side of the path and started to dig.

"RIP Mrs. Hart." Agatha said, clapping her hands together, "Well, shall we? Alright." She started to walk off and quickly turned around when she realized no one, not even her son, was following her. Nicholas was digging in the dirt, his rabbit hopping around in a circle, surrounding him. Alice could sense the magic coming from the animal, it was strong but toned down and seemed to concentrate around Nicholas like a cloak, or a shroud.

Agatha sighed, "Okay, so what's the problem now?"

"A woman is dead, Agatha." Lilia snapped.

"Yes, and Alice and Teen are kindly digging a grave for her." Agatha threw her hands in the air, "So, they'll catch up when they can. Vamonos." She started off down the Road again and yet again turned around. Alice kept digging as she continued to talk, "Okay, Mrs. Hart was a bad draft pick, kay? Of course the Road killed her. More power for the rest of us!"

"Setting aside your staggering callousness," Jen started, "We still have the issue of our incomplete coven."

"Oh, okay. Yes." Agatha nodded slowly, "Okay, now I know the confusion. We needed the whole gang to access the Road. But after that? It's anybody's game." She laughed, "It's like the Ballad says, 'Burn and brew with coven two, and glory shall be thine.'"

"The Ballad clearly says 'With coven true, glory shall be thine.'" Jen corrected, getting in Agatha's face. Nicholas looked up and made a face.

Agatha laughed again, "Does it? Its 'Coven two.'"

"That doesn't make any sense!" Jen protested.

"It does if you're a student of the Ballad!" Agatha shot back. Alice rolled her eyes. This constant fighting got all of them nowhere, just gave them a dead body to bury and a grave site to dig.

"Her mother recorded the most popular version of the Ballad," Lilia started, "So maybe we ask Alice?"

"Okay!" Agatha and Jen turned to face her.

Alice sighed and put her branch down, staring at Agatha, "How many witches left the Road with you last time?"

Agatha paused for a moment, looking at the other two ladies before holding up a single finger. Jen scoffed, "Well, whatever. We still need a Green witch. We would not have survived the last trial without my expertise."

"Not all of us did." Alice pointed out.

"Well, where were you when Mrs. Hart needed protecting?" Jen countered.
