"You dumbass". Said the girl, still looking down, or maybe she was looking at Blaine, through her long black hair that still covered her face? There's no telling what emotion the girl, Maeve is expressing.

Blaine heard those words from the girl, but he's not one to take words that are suppose to insult him lightly.

He gets a little agitated when asking Maeve, "Did you say something?".

For the second time, Maeve finally starts speaking to Blaine. Playing an entire game without speaking could be boring, but in this casino den, the game is played in each others heads.

"I know you heard me the first time, but sense you asked I'll say it again."

Maeve finally lifts her head up straight to look at Blaine, her hair parting back to the side of her head, revealing her black colored eyes that stare into her opponents soul. Her eyelids are fully open and her pupils are a little dilated. The girl seeming to enjoy this quarrel. She answers his question, loud and clear.

"YOU.DUMB-ASS!", She yells at Blaine, now with a smile on her face that creepily spreads across her cheeks. For someone who just lost a game and a large amount of money, she's acting way too confident.

Blaine, furiously, stands up and slams his hands down on the table, shaking the chips and making a loud BAM sound throughout the gambling den.

Maeve doesn't react.

"WHO THE HELL YOU CALLING A DUMBASS? ME? HOW THE HELL AM I THE DUMBASS WHEN I TOOK YOUR MONEY?!? YOU LOST!", The man is irritated when the girl who he doesn't even know their name yet yells at him like he's the bottom feeder.

Blaine has dealt with too many people in his life where he's the one who comes up on top. Nobody would ever talk back to him. He'd put anybody in their place. Anyone even dumb enough to talk back to him would surely be put in their place in several ways. One of his strong suits was verbal abuse. He wouldn't care if it seriously offended anyone, as long as they were losing. As long as he sees his prey below him, Blaine would feel on top of the world.

In his life, the setting was like a jungle. Its inhabitants, anyone who knew about Blaine or anyone who was unluckily put in the same situation as him, or simply put, his prey. Any competition his prey were in, they'd get devoured.

Blaine is the top of the food chain. The Alpha.

"DON'T EVER TALK TO ME LIKE THAT! DO YOU KNOW WHO YOUR TALKING TO? YOU LITTLE BI-

Maeve interrupts Blaine's temper tantrum by flicking one of the poker chips at his forehead. A little red mark was made.

"Awwww, you poor baby~ Mind saying that a little closer? I can't hear you.", Maeve purposely says these words to anticipate the babies next move. It works perfectly.

Blaine reaches out right his arm from the other side of the table, leaning over the table to get more reach. His big hands in an open grasp, veins visibly popping out of his forearms. They're going straight for Maeve's face.

But right before his hands eve touch her face, Maeve makes her move. She quickly grabs Blaine's right arm's wrist with her left hand, hindering Blaine's hand to move.

Blaine is a pretty big guy, he's 6'2, and fairly built to where you can practically see his muscles through his suit. His suit hugging his muscles tightly.

Maeve who's 5'8, is much shorter than Blaine, but with the right technique, she's able to subdue him. In her childhood, she took dozens of martial art classes, successfully learning them all. Techniques of preventing a much bigger person from grabbing you was nothing unfamiliar to her.

Maeve after successfully getting the right amount of grip on his hand, she pulls it down on the table, slamming it. She also places her left arm down on the table to place more support on not letting it go. Blaine is surprised she's able to subdue him like this, someone much smaller than him, a girl even. He couldn't leave it at this. Blaine reaches his left arm to unhand Maeve's grip, but she already had a move that would prevent any further action of violence.

Maeve, the second she notices Blaine's right arm moving away from his sides, quickly reaches for something in her jacket's pocket with her free hand. When Blaine's hand is half way across the table, she reveals the weapon to him, boldly at that, in a way that would surely prevent any further action.

She pulls out a stiletto knife with her right hand, and stabs it down onto the table firmly, placing it right in between his right hand's middle and index finger. If she had slammed it any closer to the left or right, Blaine would have trouble picking up a hand of cards from now on.

With this, Blaine is taken aback and stops his incoming arm from attacking Maeve. You could see his eyelids open up to his eyebrows to show that he's now afraid. Maeve quickly notices this sight, staring into his opening eyes with a grin on her face, enjoying the fear. She's got him where she wants him.

"Now now, no need to get all riled up. It's not like there's something sticking into your hand right now, right? It could've been if you tried and it can still happen later. So just settle down for me, okay?". Maeve keeps staring into Blaine's eyes looking for any changes in his expression. She's acting like nothing is wrong, pretending like she doesn't have a literal knife stabbed in between his finger's. Shes holding herself from bursting out of laughter due to seeing the visible fear on Blaine's face, who can't seem to keep his eyes from looking at Maeve's face or his hand.

"Look, if it makes you feel better, I'll admit it. I lost. You won. But I can't believe I lost all that money in one game. So how about you listen to my proposal, okay?", She says with her eyes a little closed while staring with that same grin into Blaine's soul. Blaine can't seem to disagree in this situation, so he nervously nods his head.

"Good. Now listen to me. I want to play another game. This game will have a definitive winner and loser. With the outcome, this dispute and bet will be declared over. With this, you can whine about how you were the winner and I'm the loser and I'd be okay with it. So, you up to it?".

Blaine finally speaks up. Even with a knife in between his fingers, he's starting to feel more calm sense things have started to die down a bit. He could win more money.

But little does he know, this situation will take a turn for the worse. The difference between the winner and loser wouldn't be as different to even life and death.

"Y-yes..Im up for another game.."

Maeve lifts her head up more and smiles.

"Great!

Now for the game..

How about..

Black jack?"
