Abel's POV
The sun was high in the sky as Bella and I strapped into our harnesses for our final adventure: zip lining through the jungle.
I glanced at Bella, her hair pulled back in a ponytail, her eyes shining with excitement and a hint of nervousness.
"Ready for this?" I asked, trying to keep my tone light despite the nervousness in my chest.
She smiled, though it didn't quite reach her eyes. "Ready as I'll ever be."
We stepped onto the platform, the view of the lush jungle canopy stretching out before us.
The guide gave us a brief rundown of the safety procedures. "When you land, lift your legs high before touching down on the platform" he instructed.
"On three," the guide said. "One, two, three!"
With a rush of adrenaline, we launched ourselves off the platform, the wind whipping past us as we soared through the trees.
"Woohoo!" I yelled from excitement, my voice echoing through the forest. Bella's laughter echoed in the air, a sound that put a smile on my face.
I reached out, our hands brushing briefly before she gradually gained speed. "I'm gonna beat you!" she teased.
"Hey! How you going so fast?!" I yelled as she was already 8 feet ahead. "Lightweight, baby!" her voice echoed as I laughed.
"Woo, that was awesome!" She cheered, stepping onto the platform. "Let's do that again!"
I laughed, finally approaching the platform. "We ain't got all day." She grunted "Sadly" she took off her harness.
"It's ok, we still have dinner to catch."
The zip line tour ended all too soon, and as we walked back to the resort, hand in hand, the reality of our impending goodbye weighed heavily on us.
We reached the resort, the sun setting behind the horizon, painting the sky with hues of orange and pink. It was a beautiful sight, but all I could think about was that we didn't have much time left. We had dinner reservations, but neither of us was hungry.
As we entered our suite, Bella walked over to the balcony, staring out at the ocean, her back turned to me. I followed her, standing behind her quietly, wrapping my arms around her waist and pulling her close.
"You ok?" I whispered against her neck, my voice thick with emotion.
She leaned back into me, her hand resting on mine. "Yea" she admitted softly.
She turned around in my arms to face me then sighed "I was thinking..." Her hands rubbing with my shirt, "we should just have dinner here."
"Really?" I asked. "Yea, it'd be more intimate." she replied in a sultry tone.
"Mm" I kissed her softly on her lips. "I like the sound of that" we chuckled softly.
"Good" she smiled. "You'll call them and I'll set up." she demanded. "Yes ma'am" I kissed her one more time before we parted ways.
---
As the night crept in, the glow of the candlelight flickered on our dinner table.
Bella sat across from me, her face illuminated by the soft light. The sound of the ocean crashing gently against the shore in the distance was the only noise accompanying our silence.
She looked beautiful, but there was a heaviness in the air that I couldn't ignore any longer. This was our last night together before we had to return to our separate lives.
