The roar of jet engines filled the air as Captain Jamall "Deon" Reece soared through the skies. The F-22 Raptor responded to his every command with precision, like an extension of his body. Deon had always felt at home in the cockpit; the vast expanse of the sky had been his playground since he first learned to fly. But today was different. This wasn't just another mission—it was his first combat sortie.
"Just a routine reconnaissance," they said.
As Deon navigated through the thick clouds, an explosion suddenly rocked his aircraft, sending it into a wild spiral. Alarms blared, smoke filled the cockpit, and every warning light was flashing.
"Damn it!" Deon gritted his teeth, pulling hard on the controls, trying to stabilize the plane. But it was no use.
"Mayday! Mayday!" His voice was lost in the chaos.
In those final moments, as the ground rushed up to meet him, his mind flashed through a whirlwind of regret. How could this happen? He thought of the family he lost in a freak accident, his struggles to become an Air Force pilot, and how all that work led to this—dying on his first mission. It wasn't supposed to end like this.
And then, everything went black.
But that wasn't the end.
When Deon opened his eyes, he found himself floating in a vast, dark void. He was still in his flight suit, his body intact, yet weightless. Confusion washed over him. Am I dead? He thought. Is this the afterlife?
Suddenly, a radiant ball of white light appeared before him, filling the emptiness with a soft glow. It pulsed gently, as if it were alive.
"Who are you?" Deon's voice echoed in the void.
The ball of light spoke, though not with words. Its voice was more like a sensation in his mind, clear and direct. "I am the one who can give you a second chance. Answer two questions: Where and who would you like to be reborn as? And what ability would you want?"
Deon blinked, his mind racing. A second chance? It sounded like something out of the fanfictions he used to read. He remembered how, back in school, he would daydream about being reborn as a superhero in some fantastical world.
"I..." He hesitated, then smiled slightly, the old fantasies coming back to him. "I want to be reborn as Miles Morales from Marvel. And... I want to have my own stand, Mercury, one that I made up when I was a kid."
The ball of light began to pulse faster, growing brighter. "Your wish is granted."
Deon awoke with a start, his heart racing. For a second, he thought he was still in the cockpit, the terror of the crash fresh in his mind. But when he looked around, he realized he wasn't in the sky anymore.
"Where...?" His voice trailed off as he sat up, finding himself in a bedroom. A very familiar bedroom. He looked at his hands—slightly smaller, younger than they used to be. His heart skipped a beat as he rushed to the mirror, staring at his reflection.
He was looking at the face of Miles Morales.
"Holy... it worked!" Deon couldn't believe it. He wasn't just in the body of Miles Morales; he was Miles Morales. His heart pounded with excitement as he tried to process the reality of it all. I've been reborn as Spider-Man.
Without thinking, Deon instinctively tried to summon his stand. "Mercury!"
A voice echoed in his mind. "I am here, Deon." The voice was calm and steady, but it carried a sense of vast knowledge. "We are now one."
In his mind's eye Deon saw an image of a system like board as Mercury explained their abilities:
Stand name:Mercury
Type: Long-Range
Appearance type:Phenomenon stand
Stand type:Sentient stand
Stand Appearance:Mercury's Personality:
Logical and Knowledgeable: She is often very logical and possesses extensive knowledge on many subjects, even those the user doesn't fully understand.Infatuation with Learning: Her knowledge stems from a deep infatuation with learning and discovering more.
Monotone Communication: Excited by new information, despite usually speaking in a monotone.
Idea Sharing:Frequently shares her ideas with the user.
Strategic and Argumentative: Tends to strategize and argue her points with the user during both combat and non-combat situations.
Stats:
Abilities:Copy&paste,Clockwork
Mercury's Passive Abilities for Deon:
- Peak human condition in strength, speed, durability, senses, stamina, and regeneration.
- Accelerated development.
- Mind link with Mercury.
- Psychokinesis.
- Flight.
Ability explanation for copy&paste:
copy and paste is an explanatory ability the copy side of this ability gives user the ability to copy any item or any person. Paste allows user to do three things first it allows the user to place either people or items that user has copied and even the original in the users personal pocket dimension second is it allows the user to enter their own pocket dimension while user is in their own pocket dimension user can trash or continuously copy their items or people. Third user can open up a portal to their pocket pocket dimension and can open this portal on any surface (the pocket dimensions size is 18 ft x 12 ft.)Ability weakness for copy&paste: user can only use copy and paste 40 times a day but separately user can only use copy 20 times and use paste 20 times and it doesn't stack (user can use trash ability in pocket dimension and only in pocket dimension) and copy&paste automatically refills at the start of a new day.
Ability explanation for Clockwork: Instead of working how it sounds Clockwork will allow user to create a sphere of time in the area that user is in for example the spheres size at it's largest can be 355 Square miles in all directions and at its smallest can be 2 inch.Clockwork will give user the ability to control time in that area allowing user to stop, slowdown, rewind and reset(reset will completely remove the stopwatch sphere instantly and time in that area will go back to normal.)
Ability weakness for Clockwork: based on how small or how large the users sphere is the time user has will either be less or more time for user to manipulate time in that area. E.g if user used this ability at it's maximum which is 355 Square miles in all directions user would only have 10 minutes to control time, the reason why is because time is always flowing and for user to control time in such a large area it would be strenuous to the user/stand but let's say user did something smaller like 2 inch user would have Unlimited time and the reason why this is is because it's a smaller area meaning generally the user is being less strenuous on time meaning they're being less strenuous to themselves/stand.
"I can't believe this," Deon whispered to himself. This is insane.
"Believe it, Deon," Mercury responded. "We are connected now. You have powers beyond anything you've ever dreamed of."
