Group 1-carl and rick

Authors note: Since the original group is now split up, I will be writing from the perspective of each group until they start to reunite.

Supporting all of his fathers weight, Carl moved laboriously through the woods. His blood and sweat soaked shirt clung to his heaving shoulders as he lugged his semi conscious father away from the smoking, overrun wreckage of the prison. Rick was badly battered. Drops of blood occasionally fell from his open wounds, leaving a barely noticeable path behind them. He was hallucinating, mumbling under his breath and breaking out in random bursts of sobbing. Every few minutes he would pat his son on the shoulder and mutter "just keep going. Don't look back Carl."
For close to two hours they continued like this, shuffling through the woods. To Carl's surprise, they saw only one walker, leaned against a tree, with foliage growing all over it. All of a suddenly the woods broke into a paved street. To the left, endless winding blacktop. And to the right, a subdivided neighborhood. The choice was quite clear, and soon the hunched over pair walked up the driveway of the closest house. Rick noticed a vehicle in the drive of the next house down and suddenly started muttering again. Carl paid little attention to his father's ramblings and finally reached the front door. The door was unlocked, and they were quickly inside. The air smelled musty, but not rotten, as it tended to when there was a body nearby. The living room was unoccupied, so Carl dumped his father on the couch and drew his handgun. A quick search revealed that the house was empty, so he quickly locked the doors and pushed tables and furniture up against the windows. Finally, he dragged a mattress down the stairs and lay it next to the couch. Rick was already asleep, so with a final glance around the room, Carl lay down and fell in to a fitful sleep.
