I've always been talked down to all my life. Never speaking for myself. Always having to hear what other people had to say about me. Eventually Dakota started sticking up for me and became my bodyguard/bestfriend. But after yelling at the guy who shall not be named. I FEEL GREAT!

"Are you mad at me Jane? "

"Huh? " I said finally stopping

"You haven't said a single word since we left the venue? "

she holds both my hands and squeezes tightly.

"I'm sorry I signed you up without telling you. I just thought "whoa" this is a once in a life time opportunity. She'll thank me later on in life and say "Dakota, I still remember that day you signed me up on that contest. It was the best day of my life. Your so talented, beautiful, and the most coolest girl I know. Your my inspiration. I'm naming my first child after you." Something along those lines" she says.

"My first child....really?" I laugh out loud.

"It was worth a shot. Hey!made you laugh! Mission accomplished" she says thrusting her fist into the air.

"No I'm not mad at you. I should be thanking you!" I smile

"Please continue. I love hearing about how awesome I am."

"Well, because of you I realized something!"

"What did I do?" She says smiling ear to ear.

"You made me realize that I don't need you anymore!"

"Oh, well that took a turn for the worst." She frowned

"No no, not like that I mean of course I need you.. your my best friend, plus no one qualifys for the job except you" I nudge her elbow making sure she got the joke. She replies waving her hand and laughing sarcastically.

"What I'm trying to say is...I don't need you to protect me anymore. I can fend for myself. "

"Wow"she gasps pretending to wipe imaginary tears."My little Janey's all grown up"

"Yeah yeah, shouldn't we find a place to change out of these clothes? "

"I spotted a diner a block away lets go there."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We enter the diner finding an old couple in a booth near the front and the back filled with guys.
"Hello, do you have a restroom? "
Dakota asked the woman behind the counter.
"Near the back, its on your right"
"Thank you" we go down the aisle walking past a booth cramped with college guys.
Feeling uncomfortable I sneak a look. As expected all eyes were on Dakota. She walked with her head held high and hips swaying with every step she took. She was glowing with confidence.
She pushed the bathroon door open while I take a second to check the door. Female bathroom, got it. Not gonna make that mistake again. Inside she chugs the bag towards me then enters a stall.
I go into one next hers taking out my uniform. Then passing the duffle bag to her stall.
"Did you see the guy wearing the sweater vest. He was totally eyeing you" she says.
"Are you sure he wasn't just looking past me and staring at you."
"What? Are you jealous? "
"No way, Its just.....don't you get uncomfortable knowing that they were guacking at you? "
