"Dakota, I told you I don't want to enter."

"No no no, I just want your moral support. Just be there for me when I go on stage." Fluttering her eyelashes she takes me by the arms and rushes out the front doors.

"Can we make this quick though, if people see us in uniform they'll know we're skipping."

"Don't worry we're taking a quick detour to my house."

"We can't go through the door, Gretchen will see us. "

"Who said we were going through the door? " she smirked. Oh man, what now?, she leads me to the side of the house near a line of rose bushes, shoved her hand behind a bush and revealed a ladder.

"I'm sure you've done this before"

"Oh definitely" she said just before positioning the ladder onto the side of the house.
"Come on, we haven't got all day"
Climbing up the ladder I followed being her. It wasn't long until we were inside her bedroom. The last time I was in this room was freshman year of highschool. We always ended up hanging out at my house, I never thought twice about it. I braced myself for pink. Ruffles or quilting, or maybe even glitter. Instead the first thing I saw was green walls. A large, silk white covered bed positioned in the middle of the room next to a high window, on the other side of which were tall trees seperating the huge backyard from the house that backed up to it.

Next to the bed a door leading to a walk in closet. On the opposite side a wooden polished desk with a matching chair sat. Although there were signs of someone having just left: a large smoothie cup sweating with condensation was sitting on the desk. I just looked at her, not exactly sure of what to say.

"Different, right? "Dakota said.

"Yeah"I smiled. "I like it."she snapped her fingers pointing to the closest. "Come on".

Opening the doors, a variety of shirts, pants, dresses, shoes, anything you could possibly put onto your body was in there, neatly organized and color coordinated.
"Is this Narnia?"

"Even better" she replied, disappearing into a row of clothing. "Tell me your theme?"

"Theme" I asked, moving towards her bed.

"You know casual, dressy, professional, girly-"

"Casual" I said "please", falling back into the pillows, I lay down on the cool, comfortable sheets. I look around at the room that used to feel so familiar. There were still signs of familiarity, scattered on the walls tokens of our childhood memories. A picture of Dakota and I, my eyes closed and she was in mid-sneeze, this was taken by my dad at her tenth birthday party. We thought it was hilarious. Looking at it now we look ridiculous, but I guess that's what made it so special.

"Okay so this is as casual as it gets"she said tossing a fuzzy pink sweater, ripped jeans and a pair of brown rider boots. Sitting up I could see already she had her hair and outfit done.
"Your still a size six, right?"

"Seven"I said.

"Eh you'll squeeze"she smiled looking at my feet.

It didn't take long to put it all on, though Dakota felt it wasn't enough.
"Yeah we'll need to fix your face"

"Well that's rude"

"Come on you never put makeup on, you know I love experimenting on you. I get to test my skills with liquid eyeliner." She said edging closer to me.

"Hey you know I can't handle liquid eyeliner, I can't help but blink uncontrollably. "

"Please I swear this'll be the last time." Dakota said pouting her lips.

"Fine! But this is the last time." I'd rather give in now. Hearing this Dakota grabs her makeup bag and takes out mutiple brushes, eye pencils, blushes, and other things I have no idea what they're called.

"Now let me do my magic, just close your eyes and don't open them till I say you can." Grabbing my forehead and right cheek, I can feel cool liquid touch my eyelid.

"Hey I said no eyeliner." I yelled.

Dakota only shhed me and continued applying powder, foundation and other stuff onto my face.

In what felt like minutes, Dakota finally let go.

"Okay all done." She replied.

I open my eyes and look into the mirror. Only I wasn't looking at myself. At least it didn't look like me. I could tell she was staring at me too. She had a look of excitement in her eyes.

"Jane....You look hot!" She smiled. "You look like a younger version of your mother."

"No I don't"I frowned touching my cheek not before Dakota slapped my hand away.

"Don't wipe it away! Come on we'll put our uniforms in our bags and take them with us so Gretchen won't have the chance to catch us if we come back here"
she starts packing our bags and moving towards the window. "Come on"

I take one last glance in the mirror. Do I really look like her?

We arrive at the event to find a never ending line of adolescent girls. Half in uniform and half in dresses.

"Well I guess we all had the same epiphany" Dakota cursed under her breath.

"Your telling me."

"Whatever I'll go sign up, you go on line and hold our spot."

"Okay I can do that"I leave Dakota behind and start walking down the block. There were so many people here, all competing for one thing. I'd rather be in school right now. Not paying attention I bump into someone's shoulder.

"Hey, watch where your going!" Yelled a blonde in a school uniform. "Huh? Jane what are you doing here?"

"Uh..um I-"

"Don't tell me that you entered the contest? You don't know anything about Igneous Heart, Did you really think you could waltz in here and think you have a chance to win. Over my dead-"

I felt an arm slid past my neck and grab my shoulder then the person responded. "Hey Katherine its a free country, anyone can enter not just stuck up girls that think just because they know What the boys favorite colors are deems them worthy of their presence. Cry me a river build me a bridge and get over it."

"Real mature Dakota!"

Dakota responded by flippping her off. Then a couple whisltes and roars came from the line of girls.

"You didn't have to do that." I said

"Yeah well we stick together, just like always." She smiled letting up her fist and lightly punching my shoulder.

"Okay now lets get to the back of the line-" Dakota was interrupted by a sudden shriek and dozens of girls running to the entrance. A group of body guards towered over the screaming girls shielding someone behind them. I look back at Dakota to find her clenching her fists and contemplating on what to do.
She grabs my arm and rushes me towards the mob.

"So remember when I said that I was gonna go sign up."She yelled.

"Uh huh" I replied out of breath.

"Well I kinda sorta signed us both up." She yelled. Instead of leading me towards the screaming fans. She lead me towards the stage.

"What did you do?!"

Dakota went behind me and began pushing me. Curse these moments when I wish I went to the gym. She rushes me onto the stage and fled a second after a pair of beaming lights hit me.
Covering my face I can see Dakota standing near the audience mouthing Good Luck!
