Here for a while

Nya swung the door open, breathing heavily—moving out of the way so Andrea could enter, letting Lilly and Gigi sit down on the bed. Nya watched as they both immediately broke out into tears, completely hysterical as Andrea quickly hugged them. Lyria and Eve weren't here—but no one was worried about that. They were worried about the fact that Gigi and Lilly had almost died.

Nya could hear her heartbeat in her ears, thudding harshly against her chest it was almost painful. What was wrong with her? What was she doing wrong? Why didn't she have any powers? She could have done something—made a threat of her own. Only Kira had been useful, perhaps Andrea. But if she was being honest—she didn't even know if Andrea had powers. She'd never paid much attention.

Maybe they'd made a mistake—maybe she wasn't a key. Maybe they'd gotten the wrong person—she wasn't meant for this. She felt horrible—and she had never felt more useless than she was feeling now. When she'd see that woman—when she'd get her hands on her—she felt a hand.

Kira had suddenly placed a hand on her shoulder, her expression was tense—as well as her body language. But she could feel Nya's intense emotions, could tell something was wrong. "Nya—come on, don't be too quiet, it's not like you."

"I'm useless—right now Kira. I can't protect myself—I can't protect you—I could only verbally insult that woman. It's been two months—none of us have unlocked our powers. What's going on?"

"It's good—that you haven't yet, remember? No powers—and when the portal opens and closes, you'll be safe." Kira reminded gently, leading her over towards the couch. She sat them both down, taking Nya's jacket from her.

"No—No Kira. I think Eve was wrong about that. Power or no power—I am still a key. You really think someone can't come take the power right out of me? That there isn't someone that powerful? I think we're a lot more wanted than we realize."

"What do you mean?" Kira questioned, her eyebrows furrowing.

"I mean—I know there's no way in hell we're only wanted by people on earth. I feel like—I feel like there's a lot missing. There's a lot we don't know. Keys are supposed to have multiple abilities—one can reach the power of a god. But magic isn't from earth—it's from the other side."

"I know—I know people are lying as well. People are stuck here on earth—half of them do not want to be here, Kira. Take Lyria for example, she's on our side, yeah—but you don't think there's others like her? Who had better things in that other world? Who have been waiting years to go back? I have a feeling that all this is for nothing. Because at the end of the day—even if we are able to protect ourselves, that portal will be opened."

Kira was quiet as she listened to Nya's words. On one half—they did make sense—but at the same time, she felt as if Nya was only talking because she was spiraling right now.

"We—We are in serious danger, Kira. I mean—we're supposed to be out doing normal things! We're supposed to be in school right now—we are missing out on our senior year, because of this stupid prophecy. There is something so wrong about this." Nya continued to explain, her thoughts running out of her before she could even comprehend what she was saying. She'd been thinking about this for a while—thought about the reason Kira had been hid for two months.

"We're just kids." Nya breathed, moving away from her as she looked back towards Gigi and Lilly, who were staring wide eyed. They had heard her entire rant. They had stopped crying a while ago, eyes still puffy.

"..I don't wanna give up so easily." Lilly murmured, her hands shaking a bit as she continued to speak. "I mean—we didn't even have a bit of confidence as she pointed that gun at us. No—it wasn't right. And yes—we have every right to be scared."
