Two keys can't fit in the same hole
Getting beat really hurt. A magic induced punch really did hell to her body.
Nya was quiet as she stared up at the white ceiling, a broken light flickering in the corner. She didn't pay much attention to the young women who was attending to her injuries, who was very openly gaping at her. The woman was applying some sort of glowing salve to her throat, when Kira had turned her weapon into ashes and left it to lay on her throat, it burned like hell. But at that moment, she was still in shock.
Nya didn't know what was wrong with herself. Sure, she'd been pissed that Kira had hit Lilly, knocked her out. But she had found herself getting sloppy, her movements had been desperate. She had been swinging wildly, just trying to get a hit on her, wanted to see her bleed. What the hell was a key of humanity? What kind of useless powers did she have. Turning blood into weapons, what could she do with that? That against dark magic? No, Kira was the key of magic—she probably had other magic up her sleeve.
And Lilly, oh Lilly. She didn't even know what to make of herself—of them. Why did she care so much? She scrubbed a hand over her face, casually waving off the young woman who had been tending to her. She felt fine, didn't need any more healing.
But she caught that slightly pointed ear.
"Hey." Nya called out, voice hoarse, throat dry.
"Yes?" The woman responded, turning back to her just as she was gathering the numerous medicines she had out. God, did she think Nya was dying?
But she was pretty, with a slightly round face, honey brown skin and two twin braids hanging down her back. Nya noted the green in her brown eyes.
"You're an Elf." Nya observed, it was a stupid comment, but she...just wanted to talk. "Are you from the other world?"
The woman had shifted on her feet a bit, lightly biting her lip, as if unsure she was supposed to be talking to her. But she had quickly set the tray back down on the table across the white room, pulling up a chair beside the bedside Nya was on. She nodded excitedly.
Nya nodded slowly, her eyes roving over the girl. She couldn't help but ask, she had too many questions. "How...is it? Over there, I mean."
"I...couldn't tell you much. I'm only twenty-three myself, but my mother was tossed here with me. She says it's nothing like earth over there. Nothing but magic—no technology, so many creatures. She says the keys are a well-known story over there, too."
"Story? They don't know we're real?"
"Well, it was a long time ago really—but over there, it was a conspiracy theory, almost. They had two rulers a thousand years ago. Queen Elysia, and King Zhihua. Queen Elysia ruled the heavens while King Zhihua ruled the underworld. But apparently the other world used to be one in the same. Angels and devils conjugate about together."
Nya laid her head back against a pillow at that. Maybe this would be useful, it sounded unreal though. Angels and devils getting along with one another. But then again, just a few months ago, she didn't even think magic was real. What was real? And what was fake?"Queen Elysia held the key of magic and harmony, while King Zhihua held humanity and good and evil. That way, there was never any power struggle, and everything was even. But of course, peace doesn't last forever. Queen Elysia and King Zhihua fell in love, that—was the one thing that angered their people."
"So?"The woman gave her a flat look for cutting her off but continued anyway. "So, they stopped it all. Their original plan was to execute the queen and banish the king to a new world, but instead, they took their power from them. That being the Keys. And made them real people."
