Breakthroughs

"And here, to here." Lyria explained, Eve happily being used as a model. Her finger dragged from Eve's naval to her sternum. "Injury to organs like the liver or pancreas can lead to immediate or delayed organ failure, which is often fatal if not treated quickly. When you're aiming to kill, which you probably will, always go there. If magic fails. Always keep your blade tilted up, aim to tear muscle and skin."

"It should be as easy as scissors going through paper." Eve commented, smiling as Lyria ran her blade along her exposed collarbone, on that pale skin of hers. The four girls sat on the ground, watching. Kira, of course seemed to be watching intently, noting everything she was saying. Gigi was humming a tune, and Nya raised her eyebrow lazily.

"Yeah, right—besides all that, why does Eve look excited? Can we get her out of here? Pretty sure we don't need the freaks in the room." Andrea had offered to be used as an example, but Lyria had declined her, and she was okay with accidentally cutting eve, not Andrea. And so, she sat on the side with Soren, watching.

"I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm happy that my little keys are finally learning some self-defense. You know—you're supposed to be mighty and terrifying. We're getting closer and closer to that reality! When you lose that baby fat off your face and actually intimidate someone." Nya was instantly protesting at that, but Kira waved her off.

"Would a magic induced strike like that do some serious damage?" Kira questioned, leaning back on her hands. Lyria nodded, gesturing towards Eve's body once more. "On a normal human, an attack like that without magic would most likely kill. But to be fair, you'll probably never be fighting humans. Not normal ones anyway. It'd be harder to kill a human who possess magic, because they wouldn't be entirely human themselves."

"Magic is like a second skin, first, if you will. Your magic can react for you, it'll let itself get hurt before you do. You would technically act as a host for your magic, If you're damaged, it's damaged. Think of invisible armor that speeds up your natural healing process, protects you from sicknesses, and is a weapon all at the same time."

"So we aren't human?" Gigi asked curiously, her free hand fiddling with the ends of her locks.

"You're all keys, but any magic possessing human has some sort of other creature in their blood. Since magic isn't from here and It originated in the other world. Where humans and other creatures would breed. But mixed blood or no, a key is immensely powerful just because." Lyria explained, sighing as she rolled her shoulders, swatting a hand Eve had lifted to help, fingers wiggling.

"This is like school—but much more fun." Lilly commented, sighing as she laid on her stomach. Lyria only smiled at her, white teeth sharp and visible. "Really? You'd like to be our first sparring volunteer then?" Lilly blinked, suddenly finding the two snakes Eve possessed slithering on the ground very interesting. One of them simply flicked it's tongue out curiously.

Kira simply raised her hand; she'd gladly go first.

"No no—you always volunteer. Lilly, how will you learn anything if you never actually try. I'm sure you'd rather not find out what you can and can't do in battle. When someone very power hungry and a blade to your neck is eager to kill you?"

Nya raised her hand instead, standing up before Lyria could protest. "I want to test myself against Kira, and then Gigi and Lilly can fight, won't that be fun to watch?" A week. It'd been a week since Kira knocked Lilly out. No, she didn't want revenge. Definitely not. Maybe. Kira raised an eyebrow lazily as she simply stood up, dusting herself off.

"I'd rather you both really try not to hurt each other; healing is available at any time. But I'd rather not hear Andrea's cries if Kira gets hurt." Kira could briefly make out a head of pink hair snapping up at that, a strangled cry coming from Andrea in protest.
