Chapter 2
Sidekick.
After that incident, Jerry stopped whining about all the weirdness going on with me. He was satisfied with my explanation. He believed me! Can you believe that? Someone actually believed that story! I am not saying that he should not have believed it. It really is the truth, but even I found it hard to believe.
"What's your plan?” he asked. "To know what happened that year and to know why did this happen today.” I answered with full conviction. I don’t know what to do first. Where do I even start? How do I live as a girl? There are a lot of questions popping in my head. It was like I was put in a competition where I don’t even know what the criteria are.
"Why my sister's body?” he questioned. I don’t know what to tell this kid. If only I knew this will happen. "I don't know either.” I honestly answered.
When I got myself to finally think, first of all, I have to be familiar with Kylie's lifestyle - her environment, her school, her friends, her everything. I asked helped from Jerry. He assured me that he'll assist me in any way he could. But I don’t expect much, because he still is a boy.
"The easiest way to introduce you her friends and people she knows, is through…” he paused, "…the internet." He opened the personal computer after all. "Internet?” I was clueless. "You mean the computer?" I felt like someone from the mountains. I’m sorry but I really don’t know how technology became more empowering to date.
"Well... uhh. Yeah. All thanks to Modern Technology. Computer is a device to have an access to the internet. Some people use iPad, cellphones, notebook or laptops to surf the net.” he proudly stated like he was my professor. "Too sad you'll need to have electricity to access the World Wide Web through a pc or any other devices. That's why mom always restricts us from using the net. The electricity and the internet itself have charges. "
"Oh wait. Did you just say notebook? But… how?” I was shocked to know that a notebook needs electricity to access the net. I mean, how does that happen if a notebook doesn’t even have plugs in it or it’s not battery operated? I just can’t see how. "Oh. If you're thinking of the notebook as in a material composed of pages that were bind together to form a book, you're wrong. Notebook is like a laptop. It’s something that has, uh.. Never mind.” he gestured for me to look at the monitor instead. "Okay. Maybe you're confused. Let's open Google Chrome."
He double-clicked the icon of a round circle with a blue button in the middle and three colors surrounding it: green, red and yellow. A window opened and displayed a search engine. Jerry typed in the phrase 'soul in another body' and results with links came out.
He clicked the second result. He was redirected into another webpage. Whoa. I was more dumbfounded by how intelligent this kid is. He knows what he is doing.
"Hey. How old are you?” I interrupted his busy assignment of researching my phenomenon. "Ten.” his eyes and right hand was still focused on surfing the net. Ten?! He's just ten? He should be playing with the neighbors and messing around with sand and mud in the playground. What's happening? This kid thinks Einstein already.
"Tommy, mah man! You should take a good look at this.” he told me as he pointed out the word Reincarnation and highlighted the first two sentences.
Reincarnation is believed to occur when the soul or spirit after the death of the body, comes back to life in a new form, such as another animal or anything that is living. However, once born some time, things from a person's previous life are forgotten.
