Chapter 6

Crush.

Hey, I haven't seen Christian the whole day. Is he really my boyfriend!?

Being committed, for me, is a hard thing. Having a girlfriend is hard to maintain, especially when I was still a Kyle. Nobody was good enough to be called mine. Nobody proved that they were a girlfriend material. Nobody.

"Aly... Where's Christian by the way?" We were eating sour Skittles while I play Jerry's PSP. So fun! "He's...” she paused "studying in an all-boys school!" I can feel that she wanted to give me a slap so I could remember Kylie’s memories. "Oh. Thanks.” I was playing Naruto Shippuden Akatsuki Rising. "How come you forget everything about everyone?” she whispered to herself.

Aly was sipping the straw of her diet soda.

"You know what? You're acting pretty weird lately."

"Uhh.” I can't think of a respond. "Weird? How?"

"Nothing." she laughed. "Don't mind me! I'm just overthinking!"

    "Ha-ha-ha.” I forced a laugh. "Maybe."

Whew! How can I possibly survive this day?

"Hey! I forgot to tell you! Next week's the foundation week of Beauford Hills High. Also the sports festival will be held at the same week. We're required to join a sport! Here comes our annual problem, which sport to join when we don't really play any sport? I hate sports fest! School is for books and pens!” Aly complained. “We should make an activist group about that!”

“But I think it’ll be fun. Well, aren’t we gonna go home yet?” Aly shook her head. She said we should stay here until the basketball team arrives. We sat on the bleachers for like, an hour or two. "What are we waiting for in here anyway?! You said you hate basketball. My butt has flattened already!" I was trying to convince her to go home since like, forever. But she kept on insisting that we should stay. "Uhh. I hate basketball, okay? But I've got a crush on a basketball player. They're two different things." And I’m guessing. No. I mean, I’m making a hypothesis - the campus heartthrob, maybe. "Alex Wyle?"

Aly hit me on the lap with her hand. She was focused staring at something, or someone?

"It's them! It's them!!” she almost shouted. Aly held my hand so tight. She looked me straightly in the eyes.  "Kylie, if ever I faint, I trust you that you'll catch me, 'kay?” she smiled.

     Was she serious?!

I turned my head to see who the heck her crush is. Why does Aly transform into some other girl when it's about this guy? Why would she faint?! Who the heck is Alex Wyle?! Is he a cooler guy than me back then?

I noticed some other girls were watching them too. They were even screaming, "Alex! Marry me someday!!" or "Let's have babies together!!" Pffft! Girls are so cheap and aggressive nowadays.

Why would they ask a guy to marry them and have babies with them?! That’s Eew. It is a major turn off. Guys like the thrill of he chase. Not this!

A group of guys, wearing blue jerseys and rubber shoes, carrying bags with towels on their shoulders, were walking towards the lowest row of the bleachers. They were talking. They were laughing, like these girls are some piece of crappy joke. I even heard one guy say in a funny manner of imitating one of these crazy girls, "Marry me, Alex baby!"

The whole varsity burst into laughter afterwards.

"That's,” she whispered and pointed a blondie guy. "Alex!!!" Her whisper turned into a shout. Can her fantasy go wilder than this? "There is no need to shout and go hysterical like the other girls, Aly! Are you insane?"

"I am absolutely insane! If you don't know, we are sitting on the perfect spot! His face is clear up in here. What a view." She then breathed a sigh of, I dunno. A sad sigh from someone who obviously likes a man but never notices her. Tragic. I cannot see the guy's face. He was standing on his right leg, with his left leg raised. I figured out that he was tying his shoes.

"What does he look like!?” I asked.

"Are you even from here? He's campus heartthrob!"

   "Who's he?"

"You're unbelievable!" Aly's voice was so loud even the guys heard it. Good thing they were too busy talking, drinking their bottles of water. "Everyone here knows him!!"

"Calm down!” I heard myself and I sounded like a megaphone. Shut up please!, I said in my mind. I'm just afraid to get their attention, the popular boys' attention.

I still can't see him. All the other guys already proceeded to the court.

"There! The one who's left. That's him! That's him!” Aly shouted.

     "Shhhh!! He might hear you!"

"That's the point Kylie! I want him to hear me! And notice me!” she looked again at him. "Alex, look here!!"

There was nothing left to do. She’s bringing so much shame in our friendship. So… I simply covered her mouth to shut her up.

Aly was making noises while struggling to take my hands off her mouth. She was still pointing at the guy. I can't make her calm down! "Relax, Aly!" She bit my finger and accidentally pushed me, leaving me to fall hard on my butt, landing on another row. Jerry's PSP fell, too. It fell three rows before the varsity's place. Shit. Shit because Jerry will hit me with his cute fists again.

"Ouch!” I cried. But I want to cry more about the PSP. I'm so dead.

"There he is!!! Look!!” she stood up and screamed, like all the other ladies, not knowing I was hurt. "Hahaha!!" I don't know why she had to laugh like crazy, like she won over me. I completely hate this side of Aly. It’s so not her.

The guy he was pointing look up at us. I had to blink a hundred times to see him clearly. I even wiped my eyes. My jaw dropped when I saw who her crush was, who the campus heartthrob was.

     It was... me.
