Kiara's pov-:
I was going to my house in my car with my driver.
I was thinking about today's incidents.
Abhimanyu- I know you don't do well with violence—No. Kiara stop thinking about it. I can't dwell on the past anymore. If I do, I'll never move on from what happened. I can't let him win over my head again.
Reached my house-
Housemaid(gina)- Hello kiara! How was school today?
Kiara- It was alright.
Gina- That's good to hear. Your father wants me to let you know that you're having a family dinner tonight.Anytime Dad wants to have a family dinner, it's either good news... or bad news.
Kiara - Alright. Thanks gina.
In my room-
My parents and I didn't really have the most perfect relationship to say the least. I was adopted when I was 2 years old after my biological parents left me at their doorstep. Since my dad was just getting into politics at the time, he adopted me to improve his public image. However, since then they have never expressed love or care for me. I was just their daughter on paper, a mere cohabitant who lived in their home. Everytime I acted out as a kid , they would just pay off people and be on their way. So in that manner I've never experienced true parental love. But hey at least I had a roof over my head.Gina- Kiara!! Your parents are home!
I got up and went downstairs.
Dad- Oh, there you are. Have a seat.
I sit.
Kiara- So what's the occasion? Did you get into another scandal again or something?
Mom- Young lady!
Dad- That's enough. I would just like to dine together before the big announcement next week. I'm running for mayor again!Mom- That's such a good news, darling. This city is nothing without you.
Kiara- That's great, dad. Congratulations.
Dad- Thank you Kiara. We will be having a family interview next Thursday night with my friend so you should prepare for that.
Kiara - What? Next Thursday is the Homecoming dance!
Mom- I guess you will not be attending.I got angry.
Kiara- I already bought my dress for the dance! And it's my senior year, I won't get to go to Homecoming again. I'm not going to this stupid interview.
Dad- As long as you live in our house, you'll follow our rules. Don't you want the money to study abroad for college? That was my one wish from them. As a last request, I wanted them to pay for my tuition to be able to study abroad. It was the only way I could get out of this entrapment. The only way that I could do something bigger in my life rather than just being reduced to the mayor's daughter.
Kiara- You know what? I don't need you for that. I'll get a job, pay for my own tuition and move out-
Mom- Don't speak to us so disrespectfully! Or else we'll change your mind about letting you meet your—
Dad- SAM!!If this is what it is...and they kept it from me? No way, they can't be that heartless.
Kiara- You've met my real parents?
Dad- Kiara, my daughter, we were going to tell you—
Kiara- Shut up! How long have i begged you to find my real parents? Don't you know how it feels to live your life questioning why you were abandoned? I should have been the first one to know! But what, you were going to keep this a secret from me? You were going to hold it above my nose, like meat to a starving dog?I got up and started leaving crying.
Gina- Kiara! Where are you going?
Driver(bree)- The city's dangerous at night, she shouldn't be on her own...Somehow i found myself at a bus stop on the outskirts of the city. Once I stopped running, the tears kept falling. Finding out that my Mom and Dad knew about my real parents and chose to hide it from me... I was hit with a feeling of betrayal and confusion. What was their reason? I'd spent so long searching for my parents...
A lady- Honey, what's wrong?
Man- Isn't that mayor's daughter?
Old woman- Oh my god, you're right!I can't tell them the truth or it could negatively impact the mayor's reputation.
Kiara- Sorry, I'm just tearing up because i lost my contact lenses.
Man- Oh no, where did you last see them?
Kiara- Uh, in my eyes? All the people looked confused.
Kiara- Whatever, it's none of your business anyway! And I left the place.
Someone - Hey wait!
Lady- honey, be careful out there. It's dark right now and this city is buzzing with crime at night.
Kiara- Oh.... Well thanks for the warning but I'm heading home anyway. And i walked away. Ugh, how do I get home now? I swear I walked by here... maybe let's go through here.
And i started walking but two other guys also started following me but I had no idea.
I'm definitely lost. I had the sudden realisation that I had ended up on the wrong side of the city. The city I lived in was mostly made up of beautiful houses and buildings. But on the flip side, a lot of city's people lived in impoverished crime filled areas. The ones i was warned to avoid. I should text my driver bree to pick me up. Where is this place though?
Creep- What are you doing here all alone, babygirl?
Another creep- Wanna come back to our place? We live right around the block.I started running as fast as I could.
Creep- COME BACK HERE!They also followed me. Shit! I fell.
Flashback-
Kiara- sorry! It's my fault( got slapped and then someone pushed me)Present-
Creep- Well, won't you look at that. You really thought you could get away from us, babygirl?I got up and they surrounded me. No....
Kiara- Fuck you! Don't touch me!
Creep- Come on now, babygirl.... No need to get violent.
Kiara- GET AWAY FROM ME!Someone punched one creep. Sidharth?
