You have to fight every urge to pause and gasp when La Muerte turns around for the first time. Sure, you didn't really know who she was, what she looked like, or what she did; you've only heard legends or tales of her in the books you've skimmed over in Europe.

Needless to say, she's utterly stunning. You eye the perfectly symmetrical sigils and designs painted upon her pearlescent white skin, her giant hat piled high with blooming marigolds and melty candles. Thick, wavy hair cascades down her back in voluminous waves as she whirls around. Her body is tea, her velvet red dress sculpting her curves nicely.

"(Name)? But, how did you even get here?"

"With the Sanchezes' help. And Candlemaker." You say, gesturing to the four that came with you. Candlemaker cheekily smiles, giving La Muerte a tiny wave. The Book of Life does the same.

"Candlemaker." The goddess greets with her hand out. "Carmen, and... the head of Luis?"

La Muerte gives a simple snap of her fingers, suddenly summoning the rest of Luis's lost body parts. His bones hurl towards his head, messily snapping back into place like magnets. Luis gives his body a new feel, moving his fingers around.

"Great, my arthritis is back again." He groans, rubbing his backbone.

You eagerly step up towards La Muerte, bowing your head low as a sign of respect. Taking a deep breath, you meet the deity in her fiery eyes, ready to spill hot tea.

"I know about the wager, La Muerte. Xibalba cheated!" You exclaim.

La Muerte's eyes burst into flames, matching the exact anger you feel. "How?!"

"Yeah! He took Manolo and I's lives, with a two-headed snake!"

Realization dotes on La Muerte's expression. The way that her face twists into pure anger scares you just a little. Never have you ever encountered an angered goddess, nor would you want to ever again. Her fists start to clench in their places, her teeth gritting together. Her anger expands throughout the entire domain, making the very castle beneath you shake and crumble like an earthquake.

Candlemaker quickly turns towards you all with a nervous smile on his face. "You might wanna cover your ears right now-"

You and Manolo do exactly that.

La Muerte's candles light ablaze in a blinding light, her pupils glowing with angry orange fire.

"XI...BAL...BA!!"

You're so close to La Muerte that you can almost feel the warmth of her fiery candles against your bones, her cacophonous voice echoing deep throughout the entire Land of the Forgotten. You close your eyes against the bright light, keeping your hands glued to your ears. (Don't skeletons not have ears??)

Xibalba cheekily is summoned, with two goblets and a bottle of expensive wine in his hands.

"Yes, my dea- "

The god gasps when he sees you, Manolo, Carmen, and Luis all standing just behind La Muerte. The bottle of wine shatters to the floor, while La Muerte stands with her hands fisted by her sides. You give Xibalba a salty look, fighting the urge to flip him off as his face pales in realization.

"You misbegotten son of a leper's donkey! You cheated! AGAIN!" La Muerte shouts at Xibalba, taking an angry step closer.

"I did no such thing!"

Xibalba nervously laughs when La Muerte wordlessly grabs Más y Menos from his belt, flicking the snake once to solidify it back into a staff. Xibalba averts his eye contact towards the lava pool of the castle, attempting to hide the two-headed snake behind his back.
