Chapter 6

White scorching heat ran through her veins like molten lava. The noise from the ocean, the crowd, everything ceased except for the feel of Lucas' lips against hers. She clutched his biceps to steady herself when she felt his tongue push against the seam of her lips. Her shocked gasp allowed his tongue to tangle with hers.

They both groaned simultaneously. This was what Lucas had been thinking about since the night they shared a bed, how that delectable lips of hers would finally feel against his and he was never one for wasted opportunities. It didn't make sense to him, his attraction to her; because she wasn't the usual type he went for. His hand fell to her waist and moved to her back, touching the bare skin left unconcealed by her two-piece suit. He could feel her hand rising - seeking - his shoulders as he clutched her tighter towards him.

Raw blatant chemistry. This was what he did best. This was what he knew. Her fingers clutched his hair and his fingers crept upwards to tease the undersides of her breast. Alyson's breath hitched and she pulled herself away from him.

"Wow."

Lucas' lips curved into a smile. She stared at him a little bit shaken, barely hearing the director calling the shoot done.

"Shall we go straight to the flea market?"

Fanning her flaming face with a DIY paper fan, Alyson tried to cool herself from the heat of the island. She still wasn't sure if her face was red because of the kiss or was it really from the heat. Lucas walked next to her, his face passive as he took in the surroundings of the flea market. He had been normal, with no sign of being thoroughly affected, after the kiss. She pretended to be nonchalant as well as they left the set and hitched a bus to the other side of the island. The flea market was bustling when they arrived. She continued fanning herself as they made their way through the cobbled pathway with vendors at their sides.

The kiss kept replaying itself in her head like a HD movie but each time the 'movie' replayed, she doubted the reality of it. Was it really only just for show when Lucas kissed her? She most definitely had reacted to it for real. Her face flamed as she remembered how close his hands had been to her breasts and how she had clutched his hair as if it was a lifesaving raft in an abandoned sea.

"Are you okay?"

Surprised at the sudden question, Alyson looked at Lucas and smiled, "Yeah, sure. I'm fine." Trying to divert attention away from her, Alyson asked him, "Do you see anything you want to get?"

Lucas glanced around, "So far, none yet. You?"

Alyson was about to say no when she spotted something to his left and paused in her steps. Wow. Hung on one of the mini metal stands on the table of a stall, was a dainty necklace with the letters of her name engraved on a small metal plate. She was surprised that it spelled Alyson with only one 'l' instead of two. She walked over to the stall and took a closer look. She noticed that there was also a stone shaped like a bird at the side where her name ended. Glancing at the merchant lady opposite her, she smiled and asked, "How much is this?"

The lady smiled back and named a price that nearly made Alyson's eyeballs drop. "What? Why so expensive?" Her slightly raised voice attracted Lucas' attention from where he stood peering at one of the pearl earrings that he figured would look good on his mother.

"The red stone was imported from South Africa and it took a long time to carve it into the shape of a bird," the market lady explained, "That's why, the price is slightly higher than the normal flea market items. Would you like to buy it, miss?"
