Chapter 4

He dipped her.

Alyson's cheek reddened in memory of Lucas gripping her shoulders tight and dipping her two hours earlier. Grabbing a towel from the rack, she dried her hair and took a step out of the shower and glanced at herself in front of the steam filled mirror. She took a sheet of tissue paper and wiped the steam from the mirror. She dried herself off and applied some lotion to her body.

Lucas Edwards had dipped her. The initial shock of the dip had ceased when Lucille walked over and chastised Lucas for moving ahead of her dancing schedule. It was mortifying and Alyson's heart had been beating a bit too fast at that moment. She told herself it was due to the embarrassment of being chastised in front of the others and in front of the camera but she knew she was fooling herself because as a media student she knew the exact moment the cameras stopped rolling. The digital effects people would probably cut out the scene of the chastisement and edit in the dip only to spur the public audience into thinking it was a dip of passion. She had no idea how the producers wanted to portray them yet. It was worse when Lucas pulled her back on her feet, gripped her hand tight in his and charmingly told Lucille that he got caught up in the moment. After a brief scrutiny, Lucille had walked away with a tiny smile on her mouth. The man had lethal charms and although they were only a few days into the reality show, Alyson realized that she needed to be realistic about their relationship because the truth was far different than on television.

They were a fake couple. Both of them out for their benefits. He was supposed to be evaluating the show on behalf of his boss's company and she was here to pass for a job.

A knock on the door broke her out of her reverie. She paused in her action of putting on her clothes. "Yes?"

Lucas voice came from behind the locked door, "Hey, you done yet?"

"Yeah, coming!" Alyson quickly pulled up her pants and brushed her hair a couple of times with the provided comb that been prepared before opening the door. She rubbed the towel on her hair and held the door open with one hand, her dirty garments of the day looped around her arm that opened the door. "All yours."

He entered the bathroom after she walked out. "Alyson."

She turned around and looked at Lucas. "I wasn't angry at you for rejecting the comment."

She looked into his brown irises and saw the truth in his eyes. She smiled at him. "It's okay. I made the assumption and although the way you dealt with it isn't very much the best way, I suppose you were shocked at the wrong assumption."

She was blabbering.

His smile turned into a smirk. "You're assuming again, Finland. I never said I dipped you because of that."

Before she could reply, he winked and closed the bathroom door.

"Okay, this is going to be weird."

Lucas glanced at her. "What's so weird about it?"

Alyson looked at him as if he had lost a few brain cells. "Same bed, two strangers. Hmm...why is it weird I wonder?"

"Okay, I get it. Save the sarcasm."

Alyson looked at the bed and counted the number of pillows. They only had four pillows, two each and a comforter. They could use one pillow each and used it as a divider or one of them would have to just sleep on top of the comforter.
