Jenna's pov

"You're it!" y/n yelled playfully to me and slightly pushes my shoulder before running to the back of the backyard, hiding behind the trampoline.

"Hey! I was drinking my lemonade, that's not fare!" I yelled back and started running towards her, y/n immediately running away.

"Get back here!" I yelled again at her, laughing after hearing her laugh.

Y/n and I have been best friends since first grade. We see each other every day and play so many different games like Just Dance, making tornados in the pool, drawing with chalks on our driveways and way more.

We may have similar personalities, but that's not all that makes us best friends. We were also born 12 days apart and we're both gonna turn 10 tomorrow, which is why we're making lemonade. We're gonna sell it to the neighbors to earn more money on our birthday. Mom said that it would prove our maturity of 10 years olds or something since she said that it's a serious age.

"You won't catch me I've always been faster than you!" y/n yells back. That's not true, I've always beaten her in school, even Miss Julia says so.

We both run as fast as we can around the backyard and, before I know it, I've reached her and touch her back before running in the opposite direction, laughing.

"Jenna!" Mom yells. I stop running and look at my mom.

"What mom?" I yell out, out of breath from the last 5 minutes of running.

"Come here honey, just 2 minutes" she tells me and I look at y/n.

"Give me 2 I'm coming back. Don't drink all the lemonade!" I yell at her as I run back to the house.

"What mama? Y/n's waiting for me to play" I tell mom with a pout.

"I know Jen, but we've talked about it. Y/n needs to go back home since you still haven't packed your things. We're leaving tomorrow. Aliyah has already packed all her things with my help. I can help you too but you need to do it now." she tells m firmly.

My family and I are leaving town tomorrow due to the fact that I'm starting to get bigger acting jobs and I need to live closer to the work place.

I still haven't told y/n though. I guess I'm just scared of how she'll react. Leaving my best friend of almost 4 years is the last thing I want to do, but Mom and Dad say I have no choice.

"Have you told her?" Mom asks me. I nod my head 'no' and she gives me that mad mom look.

"I just don't want to go!" I whine.

"Jenna, we're doing this for you. You can still call y/n everyday if you want to, but we're leaving. Now, chop chop" she tells me seriously.

I groan and go outside to join y/n, waiting on the chair by the pool.

"You okay Jenna?" she asks me. I suddenly get that nervous feeling in my stomach.

"Ugh.. I need to tell you something." I tell her, looking down at my hands.

"Yeah what is it? Why are you acting so weird?" she asks me with a face full of confusion.

"I'm.. Um.. I'm leaving town" I tell her, still looking down.

"Really? When? Why?" she asks me in shock.

"Tomorrow, first thing in the morning. For my acting jobs. I'm just going with my parents and siblings, grandma's staying here" I tell her, looking up at her and seeing her face change to sadness.
