"You can really take her?" Kylie asked, with a sigh of relief.
"Yes of course. Besides Wy thinks I'm not cool anymore to hangout with. It'll be nice to spend some time with her. Even if I don't know what's going on." I laughed.
According to 13 year olds, it was not socially acceptable to be seen out in public with your family, especially your parents. I try to be the fun uncle so the girls will want to hangout with me. I love all three of my nieces so much.
Wyatt who is 13, the most assertive and the typical oldest sibling. Then there's Elliotte who's 12, but with her if we call her full name and not her nickname Ellie, we will get the death glare from her and a threat to burn down the house. I don't think she's joking, so I know it's better to play it safe. Lastly, the baby of the family Bennet, who's the sassiest 10 year old little girl I ever met. She has this sass and spunk and dry humor that always brings a smile to my face. I love all three as if they were my own children.
So when Jason called me up, asking for me to take her to. this author meet and greet or something, I was over the moon to spend time with Wyatt. She's 13 now. Soon enough, she's going to be graduating high school and going to college.
"What day is it?" I ask.
"Next Wednesday the 13th. Apparently Taylor the author loves the number 13 so she'll do stuff ti align with the 13th. Something like that. Wyatt explained it in an elaborate way but I can't remember." Kylie explained.
"Wednesday the 13th. Let me add it to my calendar." I add the event to my calendar.
Author meet & greet with Wyatt.
"What time should I pick her up?" I look up to Kylie.
"Let me ask her. Wyatt." Kylie shouts to her oldest daughter.
"What Mom?" Wyatt stops over in a huff, clearly not in a good mood. But she's a 13 year old girl, she's never in a good mood.
"Hello to you too. Say hello to Uncle Travis." Kylie turns to Wyatt.
"Hello." Wyatt greets me blandly. She wants to go back to whatever she was doing.
The 'it' thing was Roblox or whatever. I am told to buy the girls Robux for birthdays and such. I've also been banned from getting the girls Robux whenever I see them.
"Hi Wy. Guess what we're doing?" I ask her excitedly.
"What? It better not be something dumb and baby." Wyatt complaining, pointing to her mother.
"Next Wednesday Uncle Trav is taking you to that book meet and greet you wanted to go to. Since Dad and I are busy we asked him. We knew you wanted to go badly." Kylie told Wyatt.
You could see the 13 year olds face go from neutral to grinning from ear to ear. If that's all it took to keep her smiling, so be it. I would do anything for her to keep her young and naive.
"Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you." She squealed, hugging Kylie then me.
"Of course Wy. You excited?" I ask her, as the two of us head over to the living room. Ky was about to start cooking dinner.
"Uhh duh." She sassed me. "Taylor Swift is my favorite author of all time. Not just author. Favorite person."
"What does she write?" I ask curiously. I mean I'm going to this event and I never heard of this woman let alone her works.
"She usually writes romances but this time she branched out and wrote this step by step guide called How You Get The Girl. And it's breaking down each step for someone to win their girl back or to take your girl out. Anything she writes it's amazing." Wy fangirled.
