Avira's POV
I was in a deep sleep when my mom suddenly splashed water on me. Startled, I shot up in bed.
"What, Mumma? Why did you do that?" I groaned, wiping the sleep from my eyes.
"Look at the time" she replied, her voice a mix of urgency and annoyance.
I glanced at the clock, and my heart sank. "Holy shit, it's 9! I have to submit my assignment by 10 a.m. Mumma, please step aside-I need to get ready fast."
After a few minutes, I glanced at the clock again. "Oh God, it's already 9:20, and I'm still not ready! I should call Aarohi and ask her to wait for me."
I grabbed my phone and dialed her number.
"Hello?" Aarohi's voice was impatient.
"Avi, where are you? You know na we need to submit our assignments today!" she said without skipping a beat.
"Yeah, I know! I'm on my way, but please wait for me, okay?" I replied, trying to sound calm despite the panic bubbling inside me.
"Fine, but you better hurry," she huffed before hanging up.
I raced to the living room, yelling, "Bhai! Please, can you drop me at college? I'm getting late!"
To my surprise, he didn't argue. "Alright, Let's go" he said, grabbing the keys.
🌸🌸
The ride felt like an eternity, but finally, we reached college. I spotted Aarohi standing by the gate, arms crossed, her foot tapping impatiently.
"Hey, Aaru!" I called out, waving frantically as I jogged over to her.
"Avi, let's go! Professor Kulkarni's already mad, and if we're late, we won't get our marks!" she said, her voice tinged with both worry and relief.
"Yeah, then what are we waiting for? Let's go." She looked at me in disbelief and then we made our way towards our class through bustling hallway.
Now we were standing right in front of our class. Prof. Kulkarni was sitting on his chair asking for everyone's assignment.
"May we come in, Sir?" I asked drawing the attention of the entire class.
Professor Kulkarni looked up from his desk, his glasses perched low on his nose as his gaze pierced through us. The class had gone dead silent, every eye watching us.
"You two are late," he said, his voice calm but stern. "I assume you have a very good reason?"
I glanced at Aaru, who nervously fidgeted beside me. "Sorry, Sir. We got caught up... but we have our assignments ready." I offered, hoping it would ease the tension.
He raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed. "Hand them over. And take your seats. This better not happen again."
We quickly handed over our papers and slipped into the nearest seats, feeling the weight of the entire class's eyes still on us. As I sat down, Aaru leaned over and whispered, "That was close."
"Yeah, but we need to be careful from the next time. "
Avyansh's POV
I was about to leave for the meeting that's when Dadi called me.
"Hello" I answered.
"Hello, Avyansh" she replied.
"Yes, Dadi?"
"Beta, you left for the office early this morning."
"Yeah, actually, Dadi, I have a business meeting that I need to prepare for."
"Ohh, so have your meeting done?"
"Not yet Dadi, it's in half an hour."
"Oh, well I have called to remind you that today you need to come home early as your sister is coming home after 3 years from London."
"Okay dadi I will try to reach home as soon as possible."
"Okay beta. I can't wait to see her.Take care."
"You too dadi."
"Bye"
The call ended..
🌸🌸
After finishing my meeting, I quickly wrapped up and went to a shop to buy chocolates for my little Ishu.
I purchased a box of chocolates and headed towards home which took me an hour to reach. And as soon as I entered the mansion, I was surprised to see all the decorations which had been done for Ishu's welcome.
"Avyansh, Beta will you please go and pick Ishita from airport?" My mother asked, her voice filled with the usual warmth and expectation.
"Yeah ,why not, Mom." I replied grabbing the keys.
As I turned to leave, I saw...
