marcee would be lying if she said abraham didn't frighten the shit out of her. not just because he was scary looking, but the way he acted out of anger reminded her of her father.

"look at me." rosita demanded, getting down to eye level with the man. "don't." abraham muttered. "look at me!" she exclaimed. abraham stood up intimidatingly, glaring down at rosita. rositas face was full of fear and distrust as she kept eye contact with him.

maggie pulled out her gun, aiming it at abraham "sit down or i'll put you down."

they stared at eachother for a moment, nobody daring to make a sound until abraham turned around slowly, returning to his spot of kneeling on the ground. "well, what's next on the agenda?" tara clasped her hands together awkwardly.

"we need more water." parker said, leaning against the truck. "there's a creek up the road, a few miles southwest from here." rosita explained as she slung her gun-sling over her shoulder.

"yall go, me and marcee will stay back." maggie told them. "you sure?" glenn raised his eyebrows, hesitant to leave his wife and 'daughter'

"i am." maggie nodded. glenn's eyes darted from abraham to maggie, still not a big fan of the idea before setting off with tara, rosita and parker to the creek.

"you holding up okay?" maggie asked marcee who seemed out of it. "yeah." marcee mumbled, picking at her nails. maggies eyes narrowed as she looked down at marcee, as if she could see right through her.

"is eugene gonna be okay?" marcee looked up at maggie, her face full of concern. "he'll be just fine, don't you worry about that. okay?" she placed her hand on the girls cheek. marcee nodded, relaxing in maggies touch.

around an hour later, the others came back, eugene woke up and abraham made the decision that they'd turn back to the church.

the drive was quiet, everyone lost in their own thoughts. when they came into view with the church, they noticed the door tied up and michonne, carl, judith and the priest stood a few feet away from the church. abraham drove straight into the steps of the church, blocking the door which now came apparent that walkers were locked inside.

"you're back?" michonne grinned, relieved to see her friends alive. "eugene lied. he cant stop it. washington isn't the end." glenn sighed.

"where is everybody?" parker furrowed his brows in confusion. michonnes tense expression lighted up, a small smile tugged at her lips as she moved closer to maggie. "beth's alive. she's at a hospital in atlanta. some people have her, but the others went to get her back." michonne explained.

"do we know which one?" maggies voice cracked, overwhelmed with the news. "grady memorial." michonne nodded.

marcee smiled as she watched maggie and glenn hug, she turned to her older brother who had the same smile plastered onto his face, beth had been like a sister to them too.

the group arrived at the hospital, marcee waited back in fire truck with carl, baby judith and eugene, excitedly waiting for beth's arrival. the girl watched as the group slowly approached the hospital, taking out a few walkers that got in their way, then rick walked out the building, shaking his head slightly. marcee furrowed her brows in confusion, getting closer to the window to get a better look. daryl came out last holding beth's body with a gunshot in her head.

"n-no.." marcee whimpered as she watched the scene unfold. carl looked up at the girl in confusion, rushing to take a look himself, his face faltering once he'd realised. "oh my god." he muttered under his breath.

〰️

the next day and a half was a blur, marcee has been zoned out and dissociated for the most part. beth and tyreese had died, two group members who held a special place in her heart. tyreese, the man who cared for her when the group got split up from the prison and beth, a girl who felt like an older sister since the day marcee and parker showed up to the greenes house.

the group was now back onto the road. they were on their third car which now had broken down in the middle of nowhere.

"we're out, just like the other ones." abraham stated as the car came to a stop. "so we walk." rick shrugged.

marcee held onto parker's hand as they followed the others down the long, never ending road. "are we gonna be okay?" marcee mumbled, looking up at her brother. "of course marc, we always are." he squeezed her hand twice.

"if god is real, he must hate us." she mumbled, glancing at father gabriel who was talking to maggie.

after around an hour of walking, the group took a break on the side of the road. abraham opened a bottle of liquor he'd found in an abandoned, wrecked vehicle on the way. parker pulled a face of grimace at the smell, he hated the smell of alcohol, it was the smell that consumed his childhood home from the age of 0-12. a home that held many traumatic memories.

growling from the woods gained their attention, not the growls of monsters but the growls of animals. marcees head snapped around, meeting eyes with a couple of dogs, one dog in particular looked like marcee and parker's dog, lucky.

lucky had been apart of marcee and parker's life since louise and micheal took them in. everyday after school, the two kids would spend hours with the dog in the fields of the small farmhouse. lucky was there the day that changed their lives forever, the day louise died infront of parker's eyes, the day the two met rick grimes. however, the day the farm got overrun from a horde of walkers, amongst the distress lucky was forgotten, stuck in the fields somewhere amongst the walkers.

sasha shot the dogs asoon as she saw them, rick set up a small campfire and began to cook the meat from them. marcee stayed stubborn, holding the cooked meat in her hand unable to eat it, she felt too guilty

"eat, marcee." parker muttered to his sister.  marcee shook her head, staring over at the blue collar that sat a few feet away from them.

after awhile, the group continued their journey down the road. in the distance, was a strange box in the middle of the road. "dad.. what's that?" carl mumbled pointing into the distance. as the group got closer it became more apparent, a few jugs of water sat in a small, blue crate. a note sat ontop reading "from a friend."

suddenly, to add to the tense atmosphere, the rain began to pour. everyone forgot about the random waters and note, too relieved to be rained on after hours of the scorching heat.

a grin tugged at marcees lips as she jumped around in the rain, her mouth wide open trying to catch raindrops on her tongue. although, the joyful moment for the group didn't last long as the thunder rumbled.

marcee jumped, letting out a small whimper as she hid her face in her brothers side. she hated loud noises with a passion, especially thunder.

"let's keep moving." rick exclaimed.
