marcee-rae and parker, two young kids who have never felt the feeling of comfort a day in their lives. the siblings grew up as the children of an alcoholic, abusive father and a mother who thought she deserved it. at the age of 3 and 12, CPS took marcee along with parker. they thought they'd finally escaped this living nightmare. maybe they'd finally have a chance to be normal kids. for 2 years marcee and parker went back and forth of visits with their mother, multiple court visits as their mother fought for custody of the two but eventually their mother decided to terminate her parental rights.today was like none other, parker had finished school and was heading home through the backstreets towards the home of his foster parents. "i'm homee." he called out, shutting the door behind him. "hey lucky girl." he smiled at the sheep dog that jumped up on him in excitement. he furrowed his brows as he walked into the living room, the small tv had an emergency alert on it 'probably just another storm.' he thought to himself
"louise??? micheal?????" parker called out for their foster parents, starting to get a bit worried. "there you are. parker i need you to pack up your bags don't argue with me." louise turned around, placing her hands on the boys cheeks. he hesitated for a moment before giving the woman a nod, rushing up to his bedroom. 'pack for what?'
parker dumped his school bag onto his bed, the books, loose pens and crumpled up papers falling onto his planet bedsheets. he filled his bag up with clothes, his toothbrush, a photo of him, his sister and his mom and his stuffed monkey he'd been given from his mother. out of instinct, parker moved into his sisters room, packing up her clothes and necessities. he slung the two bags over his shoulder, taking marcees small hand in his as he rushed back down the stairs.
"micheals coming back soon then we need to leave." the woman frantically moved around the kitchen, packing away canned food. "what's going on?" parker furrowed his brows in confusion. "there's dead people walking, we're gonna go to a safety camp until it gets under control." louise explained. parker's grip on her younger sister got tighter, the girl, oblivious to the distress around her.
the two sat in the living room, marcee played soundly with her toys while parker anxiously awaited micheals arrival. his leg bounced up and down as he chewed on his lips. the tv went to static adding to the eary feeling.
everything was silent for a few minutes before a piercing scream from louise sent parker into fight or flight, he ran into the kitchen spotting louise grasping onto her bleeding shoulder, a disgusting creature layed on the floor with a bloody candle stand in its head. "louise!" parker shrieked, running over to the woman. "take marcee and go to the greenes house.." she gurgled, blood rushing up her throat. "n-no i'm gonna stay here and get you s-some help." the boy cried "parker.. go." the woman winced in agony.
he hesitated, his eyes darting from the woman to the living room. he quickly picked up the bags, clipping the dogs lead onto her collar then picking up marcee, placing her onto his back. he slid the backdoor open, glancing back at the woman one last time before sprinting across the fields towards the greenes house.
"parker? are you okay honey?" maggie greene called out from the porch. he couldn't get his words out, his heart raced, he felt like he could vomit. maggie ran down the porch, kneeling down to the boys height "honey what's wrong?" she ran her thumb over the boys cheek, wiping away the stray tears. "a m-monster b-bit louise. we need to go help her." parker croaked, glaring at the fields behind him where he'd just ran up. maggie took the marcee off of the boy, placing her other hand on the boys back, guiding the two inside the house.
she lead the two to the couch, inviting them to take a seat. lucky perched at the young boys feet, sensing his discomfort. "what's going on in here? where's your parents parker?" hershel greene walked into his living room. maggie gave him a look that told him all he needed to know "oh gosh." he muttered
from that day on, the greene family took marcee and parker in like their own.
〰️
a few months went by, marcee spent most her time down in the fields, chasing lucky and helping beth feed the animals. she truly did wonder how many monsters were out there, if there'd been a cure yet, if the world would ever go back to normal.
the girl sat down in the field, intertwining daisies, slowly making a daisy crown. a few distressed noises gained the girls attention, she looked up into the woods, spotting a man holding a child in his arms running towards the farmhouse. "maggie!!!!!" marcee squealed, dropping her daisies and running towards the house. "is he bit?!" hershel yelled at the unfamiliar man. "shot." the man corrected.
and that was the day marcee-rae and parker joined rick grimes' group.
