Midafternoon at one of the locations for a walk through...
Jordan stepped out of her Jeep, dressed in a light lilac pant suit with black blouse. She was slipping on her ballet flats for the space was a large one to walk in with heels. Holmwood had finally contacted her jut the day before, stating that he would be interested in only one of the locations. The furthest one from a populated area, no less. Calling the realtor with the news, Jordan prepared the necessary paperwork and list of questions to ask while on the walkthrough.
Yet, there was something in the air, making the area seem off. A heavy worrisome feeling in the pit of her stomach as she approached the building. Only the realtor's car was parked near the entrance, but no realtor in sight. Jordan worked with them several times and had a good business relationship with them. For them not to be in their car waiting was very out of character.
Jordan noticed that the door had been propped open with a rough wooden wedge, very narrow and long. The hairs on the back of her neck stood up as she recalled what Vlad's contact in London had said about the attacks.
Jordan stepped back to turn to her jeep when she noticed a familiar black SUV with a logo of a dragon on the side pulling up quickly. "Ms. Jordan! Break in at your father's house." Derek called through the open window. "We just got the call." Derek and Dalton were assigned to watch the appointment to ensure Jordan's safety. They were in full tactical gear and armed.
"Check inside for the realtor!" Jordan raced to her jeep. "It is not like them to wait inside of a building." She called as she climbed inside. Turning the engine over, the jeep roared from the parking lot with the flashers on. Jordan yelled to her Bluetooth to called Daniel Renfield. No answer. He had a habit of placing his cellphone on silence and this always worried her.
"Please, daddy. Be okay." Jordan pleaded she drove to the townhouse that the now elderly man made his home. There were a few police cars parked in front along with an ambulance. Skidding to stop, Jordan leaped from her jeep.
"Ma'am, you can't go..." The police officer tried to stop her from entering. Faking right, she rolled against his back, sprinting inside the townhouse before the officer realized what she did.
"DADDY!" Jordan cried, peering into the first room, a sitting parlor that had been tossed about in a hasty manner. She gripped the doorframe, fear drowning her. "DADDY! She turned to the living room that the items on a few built-in shelves had been swiped to the floor.
"In here, pumpkin." The voice that she longed to hear called from the kitchen. Running down the hall, she found her father, sitting at the round kitchen table with a EMT checking his blood pressure. His curly dark brown hair had gone completely grey several years ago, yet his green eyes still held a bit of youthfulness. Always cleaned shaved in his younger years, now he was sporting a short beard with mustache that he kept maintained. He was dressed in a green sweater with a tan collared shirt underneath that he paired with brown pants.
"Daddy!" Jordan sobbed, going to her father. He stood up, ignoring the protest of the EMT, holding out his arms to hug Jordan. He held her to his chest, hushing her fears. "I am so scared." She cried onto his shoulder.
"I know you had to be, pumpkin. I am fine, sweetheart. Did you see what those bastards did to the parlor? Good thing that Vlad and I were..."
"Vlad?" Jordan lifted her head to see that Vlad, dressed in a charcoal grey suit, paired with a crimson red buttoned-down shirt was sitting at the table as well with a concerned look on his face. His hair was pulled back in a ponytail in the nape of his neck. On the table was a hunting rifle resting there with a deck of playing cards dealt out as they were playing a game. "Why is Mom's gun on the table?"
