The next morning, sunlight streamed through the window, gently nudging me awake. I turned to see Wooyoung still fast asleep, his face relaxed and content. A surge of happiness coursed through me at the sight. I quietly got up, careful not to disturb him, and made my way to the kitchen to prepare breakfast.
As I started making pancakes, the scent of vanilla and butter filled the air, and I couldn't help but smile at the thought of sharing a warm breakfast with Wooyoung. Just as I poured the last bit of batter onto the griddle, my phone buzzed on the counter.
I glanced at the screen to see a message from Yunho: "Hey! We're on our way to hang out! Be there in 20!"
I felt a flutter of excitement and nerves at the same time. I quickly texted back, "Great! Just making breakfast!" But then a wave of anxiety hit me. I hadn't told them that Wooyoung was staying here. Would they be okay with it?
Panic set in for a moment, but I reminded myself that this was my home now, and I could share that with Wooyoung without shame. I just hoped my friends would be understanding.
I rushed to tidy up the living room, clearing away any signs of our late-night bonding. Just as I finished, I heard the sound of the door opening.
"San! We're here!" Yunho's voice rang out, followed by the cheerful chatter of the others as they entered.
I took a deep breath, glancing toward my bedroom. I needed to make sure Wooyoung was awake before they came out. I quickly padded down the hallway, peeking into the room. He was still curled up under the covers, and I couldn't help but smile at how cute he looked.
"Wooyoung," I said softly, brushing a strand of hair from his forehead. "Hey, it's time to wake up. My friends are here."
He blinked a few times, slowly coming to consciousness. "What? Your friends?" he mumbled, rubbing his eyes.
I nodded. "Yeah, they're just in the living room. I didn't get a chance to tell them you're here, but I think they'll be okay with it."
"Okay," he said, his voice still a bit groggy. "Give me a minute."
I headed back to the living room, where the energy was buzzing as Seonghwa, Hong Joong, Yeosang, Jongho, Mingi, and Yunho settled in, chatting excitedly about their plans for the day.
"Breakfast is almost ready!" I called out, trying to keep my tone light.
"Awesome! Smells amazing!" Mingi replied, his eyes lighting up at the prospect of food.
As they gathered around, I noticed the way they glanced toward the hallway, clearly curious about Wooyoung. I could feel a flutter of nerves in my stomach, but I tried to push it aside.
Just then, Wooyoung emerged from the hallway, looking a bit shy but also determined. "Hey, everyone," he said softly, offering a small wave.
The room fell silent for a moment as my friends processed his presence. I held my breath, waiting for their reactions.
"Wooyoung!" Yeosang exclaimed, a bright smile breaking across his face. "You're here! I didn't know!"
"Yeah," Wooyoung replied, glancing at me, then back at the group. "I've been staying with San."
"Nice! Welcome!" Hong Joong said, moving closer. "We're so glad to see you."
The initial tension in the air dissipated as everyone welcomed him with warm smiles. I felt a wave of relief wash over me, and I caught Wooyoung's gaze, which held a mix of surprise and gratitude.
We all settled down at the table, and as we enjoyed breakfast together, the conversation flowed easily. Laughter filled the space, and I felt a deep sense of joy watching Wooyoung interact with my friends. He was smiling, and it was a sight I wanted to cherish forever.
