Later, I met up with my friends Mingi and Yunho at our favorite café, the familiar buzz of conversation and laughter enveloping me. They greeted me with playful shoves and teasing remarks, sensing something different in my demeanor.
"Did you finally meet your dream boy?" Mingi jokes, a mischievous grin spreading across his face.
Yunho, always the more observant of the two, raised an eyebrow. "You seem... different. Did something happen?"
I chuckled, but my mind was still drifting back to Wooyoung—the way his eyes lit up when he laughed, the sincerity in his voice as he shared snippets of his life. "You could say that," I replied, a hint of a smile tugging at my lips. "I helped this guy cook, and it turned out to be a lot more than just a meal."
Mingi leaned in closer, his curiosity piqued. "Oh? Do tell!"
I felt a warmth spread through me as I recounted the day, how Wooyoung had opened up, how easy it had been to connect with him amidst the laughter and the sizzling pans. As I spoke, I noticed Yunho's gaze sharpening, and I realized he was taking in every detail.
"Sounds like someone's got a crush," Yunho teased, nudging me with his elbow.
"Maybe," I admitted, feeling my cheeks heat up. "But it's more than that. I think there's something special about him. He just... he feels so real."
As we sat there, surrounded by the comforting chatter of the café, I realized how much I wanted to explore whatever this connection was. I could still picture Wooyoung in my mind—the way he focused on the task at hand, the moments when he would catch my gaze and hold it just a second longer than necessary. It was exhilarating and terrifying, all at once.
Mingi and Yunho exchanged knowing looks, their smiles growing wider. "Well, whatever it is, you should definitely see him again," Mingi said, his voice brimming with encouragement.
"I plan to," I replied, feeling a sense of determination swell within me. Maybe I could help him find the freedom he deserved, and maybe, just maybe, I'd discover something beautiful in the process. As we laughed and shared stories, I couldn't shake the feeling that my life was about to take a turn I hadn't anticipated, one that might lead me closer to Wooyoung—and perhaps even to understanding my own heart.
As Mingi and Yunho exchanged playful banter, I couldn't help but notice how effortlessly they fit together, their chemistry palpable in the way they laughed and teased each other. It was heartwarming, and it made me think about the connections we all craved.
Before long, our friends Seonghwa, Hongjoong, Yeosang, and Jongho joined us, their energy instantly brightening the atmosphere. Seonghwa slid into the booth beside Mingi, a soft smile gracing his lips as he caught up with his boyfriend. Hongjoong, with his ever-present charisma, took charge of the conversation, regaling us with stories that made everyone laugh.
"San! You've been holding out on us! What's this about a dream boy?" Hongjoong pressed, his eyes twinkling with mischief.
I chuckled, a little embarrassed by the attention, but I felt a warmth in their curiosity. "It's nothing like that. I just helped this guy cook today, and it was... different. Nice, even."
Yeosang leaned in, his expression intrigued. "Different how? You've never mentioned anyone like this before."
"Yeah, who is he?" Jongho added, genuinely interested. "You know we want all the details."
I hesitated for a moment, weighing how much to share. "His name is Wooyoung. He's... well, he's been through a lot, but he's so genuine. It felt like we connected over more than just cooking."
