The pistol's muzzle shook in her mouth, before a cool relief steadied her hand. She could feel the trigger's resistance building as her index finger pulled towards the back of the trigger guard. Tears of self pity and remorse built in her closed eyes, and then began to streak down her cheeks. The hammer on the pistol pulled back slowly, Violet had never been more sure of anything in her life.
She was tricked into ending the world by the very Demons who pretended to be her friend. The hammer was now trembling about to ignite the chamber. Violet's mind finally went dead silent for the first time in 10 years.
"Violet, raise your head," Violet trembled, the voice was soft, familiar, feminine, but she feared to look up to find a demon. A hand touched her shoulder. She was filled with a feeling of light and began to look up. A tall woman clothed in white and an expression of certainty and feminine grace disappeared from her peripheral. As she raised her head she saw the sun shining dimly, a single bright ray falling on the portal to hell.
Her eyes trailed with it, her heart stopped. Azazel's sword was glowing, its red edge calling her.
Schriinnnnnnnnnk The ground screamed as she dragged the five foot sword behind her towards one of the doorways. Sparks flew and howled with each screeching step. Violet walked back into the room where all the Hell portals were summoned, and began to wonder which portal the strange Angel-boy was thrown into. She started to retrace her steps and role play everything that happened. She still had no idea which portal to take.
Each portal leads to hell anyways, I guess it doesn't matter, Violet thought. She flipped a coin, closed her eyes, and walked into a portal not knowing what to expect. It was a strange feeling to walk into a hellish miasma and then end up someplace else instantly, but then again there are weirder things happening right now. She opened her eyes and saw a group of 6 very large demons that were now looking directly at her.
Shocked and not knowing what to do, she just blurted out, "Azazel is going to be so happy with the sword's new edge!" She picked it up in admiration to really sell her new role as a demonic blacksmith.
"HE let you sharpen his sword?! He never let me sharpen his sword." The demon looked down at the ground as if he was about to cry.
"Azazel sends his best!" she called back as she passed the demons. What a baby. She rolled her eyes, as she dragged her sword across the room into a different portal.
This portal jump wasn't so lucky. She ended up in the center of some sort of colosseum in front of a huge crowd of spirits and demons. That same trick wouldn't work this time. " I DON'T KNOW WHERE SHE CAME FROM FOLKS, BUT IT SEEMS LIKE WE HAVE A NEW CHALLENGER FOR THE UNDEFEATED MANTICORE!" the announcer sounded like he was doing a play by play in the 1930's. She turned around to see the manticore still munching on his last victim.
"THE YOUNG GAL LOOKS LIKE SHE CAN'T EVEN HANDLE THAT BIG SWORD OF HERS. I THINK THIS ONE WILL FALL TO THE MANTICORE'S LARGE FANGS. CUURENTLY WE HAVE 23 DEAD TO THE FANGS AND 16 FOR THE VENOM. PLACE YOUR BETS NOW THIS COULD GET UGLY."
That announcer is getting annoying already. Violet spotted the next portal and it was just behind the manticore. Of course that's where the portal is. The beast looked up from its snack and noticed Violet, its eyes fixated on her and started moving towards her, slowly.
"THE MANTICORE HAS SPOTTED ITS NEXT MEAL IT LOOKS LIKE. WHICH MEANS BETTING IS NOW CLOSED. NOW A WORD FROM OUR SPONSOR..."
The manticore took off running in her direction. She started backing up, dragging the sword along. Her heart started beating faster as the mutant feline closed in on her. She noticed the sword got lighter all of a sudden, now able to hold it up straight she got ready for this screwed up half lion. It lunged at her through the air as she just swung upwards with all her might, catching the manticore in the underbelly. The sword glided through the lion's body with ease. The 2 halves of the manticore landed behind her, the sword got heavy again instantly, and hit the sand with a loud thud.
