Her name is Mahogany Matthews and she had one aspiration in life; to be the world's favorite singer and rapper. And for a moment, it all seemed possible due to her background. She sung in the choir, learned every instrument that she could, wrote her own songs, and had educated herself in every aspect of the music world. She had the skills and knowledge. So, what held her back from being in the forefront? Her rich and smooth dark-skin.
It was hard enough to be a female artist. It was even harder to be a dark-skinned female artist and Mahogany was exactly that. With every obstacle placed in her way with intention to halt her success, Mahogany finds herself having to work just a little harder to reach that spotlight. And she wasn't alone for this journey either. Though these difficulties would easily turn others away, Mahogany was adamant on getting her voice out there.
