Hi everyone, I'm Onwuaso Augustine Joy (@joy_cee ) and I'm a writer from Nigeria 🇳🇬 Imo state to be precise.

My writing journey began at age Seven. Back then, I made use of the cover of my Dad's magazine to write whenever the inspiration came.
Sometime in primary four, I discovered that the book recommended for our literature review was written by a little girl, about the same age as me!
I was enthralled and in awe of such young talent and I soon got myself a new exercise book and started writing. I envisaged the book going places and school pupils reading them as their literature and was super excited. Sadly, the story was in its concluding part when it got misplaced in school.

I had cried my eyes out then😂

On the 17th of January 2023, en route, I saw this young girl seated beside me reading a book on Wattpad. In sheer curiosity, I'd asked her what she was into, and... Long story short, I created my first Wattpad account that same day.

I spent 10 months reading books on Wattpad. The thought of writing mine came but I dismissed it. One time I read a comment from a reader criticizing the writer of this perfect book I was reading at the time and I felt that — if this writer can receive this sort of hateful comment from an amazing book like this, then who am I?

I couldn't gather it in me to write, the courage, until I came across a book here on Wattpad. The storyline and everything was fascinating so I engaged the writer. We exchanged contacts in which she encouraged me to write. Together with Vanessa, another friend I made on Wattpad, I then decided to face my fears and overcome them.

My first book titled Resilience began on the 21st of December 2023. I had written the first chapter long ago in August but I kept editing and editing and finally published the first chapter by December. The comments and votes were encouraging at the beginning (All thanks to friends I had made on Wattpad then).

By February of the next year, my phone became faulty and I got a new one. Sadly, I failed to recall the password to my Wattpad account, and then...I lost it. I was distraught and heartbroken. I concluded gloomily that perhaps, writing wasn't for me given the fact that I lost my almost finished dream book in primary school and now... my account.

Then, I joined the Young Wattpad Writers family on WhatsApp. I approached the founder of the platform of my situation and she advised me to open a new account with my new phone and start the book all over again.
It wasn't funny cos starting a book all over is no joke.
Two of my friends I met on YWW advised that I screenshot the story from my old account which they will extract the texts from it (Don't know if we'll have to tag them. I mean Jed and Garry)
So I started my book all over again on the 11th of May. The path was fraught with difficulties. Yet, I persisted. I'm still on it though...
It was at that time that I collaborated with Yanmife to write a book here on Wattpad, The Shadows Toll it's right there on her account. I think you should check it out even though it's still ongoing.

It's been a muddy journey, but I'm pretty sure I'll get there. And please, I must add this... For you to initiate your book, you should already have it all mapped out so you don't get caught up in the middle cos there's writer's block which can stump even the most experienced writer. You just have to seek accountability, keep writing prompts, and fix yourself in a writing community like YWW.
