Of. Fucking. Course.
I stop my dick from getting sucked (no disrespect intended), and do the right thing for once in my life, and this is how I get repaid? Where's the karma universe?
"Tyler?" My mum's voice is full of curiosity as she approaches us.
She turns towards a very tired Violet, who's shifting uncomfortably in her spot.
"Hello!" My mother says warmly, extending her hand. "I'm Natasha, Tyler's mum."
She clarifies— as if it wasn't clear that she wasn't my mum when I called her 'Mum' two seconds ago. Jesus, this is going to be awkward.
Violet put her hand in my mother's, but I could see it tremble."I'm Vi-"
"You're freezing!" Mum cuts her off and pulls Violet into a hug. "Oh, my dear girl, why is your hair so wet? It's almost winter! Didn't Tyler give you his jacket? Clearly, this hoodie isn't enough with your wet hair!" I want to tell her she's wearing my damn hoodie, and I'm the cold one but nOoOo.
She glares at me. Legit glares at me like I just insulted her meatloaf. Which, by the way, I do hate. Mum's cooking is legendary in our family for being dreadful. She rarely cooks, but when she does, it's a family event where we discreetly dispose of the food, feeding it to the dog. She eats it happily, and we pretend to enjoy it because we love her. Unconditionally—no one would endure that culinary assault otherwise.
Mum is still hugging a visibly uncomfortable Violet, who doesn't look like she knows what to do and awkwardly pats Mum's back.
"Mum." I cough at her, hoping she gets the hint.
Mum releases her death grip and rubs Violet's arms, "you need a jacket."
My dad may not be overly talkative, but he has been strangely quiet, even for him. He hasn't even approached us yet, he's just waiting like 10 feet away, tapping away on his phone. Maybe he is also cringing at this awkward and completely unnecessary exchange. Probably thinks she's just my hookup for the night. I never introduce girls to my parents... so mum seeing me with a girl now, and that same girl was also given my jersey— by me. It's a big deal to her.
"Honestly, I'm okay. Thanks-"
"Nonsense," she cuts her off again. Which she tends to do a lot when it comes to motherly things.
Violet side-eyes me.
"Mum, she's fine. I was just going to take her home." Buuttt it's too late; Mum is dragging Violet by the arm. To where? I don't know. But I also haven't seen Mum this excited about anything in a while.
They walk closer to Dad, and he clears his throat. "Natasha, leave the poor girl alone. Tyler will get her home and make sure she is warm." He says before smiling at Violet. "My name is Kenneth. Pleasure to meet you...?"
