"Trish and Reed should be here in like, 10 minutes"? I look over to Fang before nodding.
"Ricky's said he's coming, in his own way. Didn't say how far away but if it took more than half an hour he'd say so". Fang snorted as she tried to look over my shoulder.
"What does that mean for him"? I chuckle as I bring his text messages back up.
Anon: Hey Ricky you still up for lunch around 12?
Banjo man: yepperoni, still the same address you sent me?
Anon: ya
Banjo man: I have the scent! I'm on the hunt! I'm on your trail cuz!
Anon: alright hick see you soon
Banjo man: oooo you don't wanna release the banjo man ooo yah. Cause it'll be mind boggling to ya! you hear me weeby boi!? Yaa, Ricky Marler's gonna show ya why he's the top dog in this scrapyard of a world oo ya! I'm coming for ya weeby boy. Gonna make ya wish you were never born pukester!
Fang laughed as she finished reading the texts. "God he's more of a dweeb than you are. You're not going to have to wrestle him now are you"?
I chuckle before rubbing the back of my neck, nervous about the idea. "I don't think so"?
My girlfriend snorted before going back to her phone. "Well, could you hold him off long enough so I get a good recording to show at your funeral"?
"Hardy Har, be sure to get my good side while you're at it".
Fang gave me a smirk. "Sorry to break it to you, but you don't have a good side". I frown at the truth. 'Damn you Crockett curse. I wonder what I would have looked like with hair'?
"I honestly can't picture you with hair at this point. It'd look unnatural on you. Also Crockett? Like that famous guy that went into the wild frontier in thy olden days"? I snort at her old timey accent before I sigh. Once again I have to clear up this common misconception.
"No we're not related to Davy Crockett. The old family name just so happened to be the same as that guy. I only know that's the old family name because of Uncle Rucker".
Fang chuckles at that. "That sounds like a slur".
I can't help but chuckle. "Ya you're not the first to say that, but he's a good guy. Taught me quite a bit and a part of the family who aren't assholes".
Fang hums as her smile shrinks. It doesn't take a genius to guess that she immediately thought of my parents. "I don't hear much about your family. Besides your Uncle are any of them decent"?
I sigh as I think of the few that come to mind. My parents had never gone to many of the family reunions. Even though Uncle Rucker or Auntie Claire offered to pay for hotels or gas. Aunt Claire and Uncle Mike were alright. They only offered a few times because they were rich. But 5 years ago or something like that. They stopped since my Dad kept blowing them off. They were distant like my parents but not in a cold way. They were just busy a lot of the time since they were architect masters or something. Inco was another cool cousin. Quiet like me in some ways, but Ricky never let us stay that way for long when he was around. 'Was always jealous of his expensive clothes though'.
I then think about Ricky's parents. 'Uncle Rucker and Auntie Tiffany on the other hand always offered to make it easier to visit. Even if they were only a little better off than my parents. I don't know why. Uncle Rucker and Dad never got along. I think they only did it because they felt bad for me'. I look back to Fang. She looks empathic but her face is off. 'Must be deep in thought too'.
