Nika Mühl 23 | Istanbul, Turkey
The past few days in Turkey had been amazing. My team was very welcoming and nice.
Today we had our first game and to say I was excited was an understatement. I couldnt wait to get back on the court and do my thing.
We were in our last minutes of warming up. The coach made us do a couple of more shots before it was time to play.

We were in the third quarter and so far the game had been going okay. We were running down the court and I grabbed the loose ball. Something didn't feel right as I soon heard a popping sound.
My knee suddenly gave out and I fell to floor. Pain was slithering its way up and leg and all I could do was clutch my knee and let out a big scream. My yell echoed through true gym, catching everyone's attention.
The game was stopped and my EuroLeaugue teammates came over to me. Tears were streaming down my face. The coaches and team physicians came into the court.
I was taken off the court in a stretcher. I heard the whistle blow in the background, signaling that the game was continued.
The hiccups were starting to come and I was breathing heavily. Once I was in the back and in the training room, the workers helped me off the stretcher and into the bed they had.
The lady told me that she was gonna check out my knee. She pulled my knee forward studying the movement. I heard the woman mumble something about too much Laxity.
"Nika, honey."
I glanced at the woman, bracing myself for whatever was about to come. I hoped it was nothing bad. "You have had a non-contact injury and these kinds are sometimes always a bad thing. And um.......I'm so sorry to tell you this but, you've torn you acl and meniscus.
I felt as if my heart had broken in a million pieces. What does she mean I've torn my acl. I can't! I broke down in cries. The woman said she'd give me a few minutes before she put the stabilizer on.
This couldn't be happening to me right now. I had just finished my rookie year. I most likely wouldn't be able to play with Paige next year. Acl tears usually take a four to twelve months to heal.
I just wanted to go home and forget about this. The door opened and the brunette woman stepped back in. "Okay, so I'm gonna put the stabilizer on so your knee doesn't move much. I'm also gonna give you ice so you can ice your knee."
I hummed and watched as she bent down, grabbing something out of a cabinet. She carefully lifted my leg up and strapped this thing onto my leg. "You're gonna wanna rest and ice your knee.
When you get surgery, your doctors will most likely tell you the same thing but just so you know. You're gonna wanna keep it elevated and you can get medicine to help the pain.
And you're gonna go through the physical therapy part and everything. I don't want you to worry you're gonna be just fine. We're gonna call someone and get you on a flight back home.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I sat there crying and praying for the rest of the game. After the game was over, the girls plus Gabby all came in. They comforted me and made me feel a bit better.
About ten minutes after, they said I could get ready to leave. Everyone left and I sat there thinking about what I'd do now. How was I going to tell Zaria. I had just left home now even four days ago.
In walked gabby with all my things. "Here you go. I know you got this champ."
"Yea, thanks Gabs."
She gave me a side hug before waving goodbye and leaving.
Welp, now it's just me and my broken leg.
